Server designation idea for Beta Test(s)

I thought of something today that might help those of us who get to play Beta to have more fun, and therefore play/test/contribute more...

The Roadmap stated that Phase 1 would begin with 5-10 servers. I think it would be nice if in the Beta forums they designate which worlds could be unofficially designated to our (prior) server names. Beta testers wouldn't necessarily be required to create and play characters on those test worlds, but if they wanted to, they might find more of their 1.0 friends.

For instance, the Beta forums could set forth:

Beta World 1 to unofficially host players from Aegis and Sargatanas
Beta World 2 to unofficially host players from Balmung and Durandal
(you get the idea)

I know in Phase 1 and 2 it will not matter because all character data will be deleted but I would still really like to run into and test Beta with friends if I could. What do you guys think?

The idea may work at first, when everything is hosted in Japan, but once SE starts with regional servers, it is very likely people will pick the region that is best for their ping, reguardless of what world they came from.

I can't comprehend why there would be any negativity about this. To be clear, in case I wasn't... which I thought I was... heading to said server would be completely voluntary. No one would want reuniting with friends to be made easier?

I actually agree... When I get into the beta, that's exactly what I'll do. Since I already know how I'll design my character in ARR, it would be interesting to experiment with other races and names...

Actually, I will as well. But many won't. People find each other anyway

What made me first think of this idea was wondering how they will disburse people evenly among 5-10 servers. I guess it will happen naturally.

A Request to Alpha Testers

With official service for Version 1.0 having come to a close, we want as many people as possible to have the chance to participate in the Alpha Test. As such, I would like to make a request to all testers, both present and future.

As I mentioned earlier, the Alpha Test is limited in scope. If players were to flock to a certain world, it would generate unprecedented levels of server stress, which would in turn make it difficult for us to increase the number of testers.

At present, the Alpha Test is being conducted on two worlds: Chocobo and Moogle. If you’re not already testing on Moogle, we ask that you please create a new character and play there instead. As for those who join the fray after December 3, we would be grateful if you could elect to play on the new world that is due to go online. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

You choose a server when you create your test character. So my idea was just a way of evenly distributing players while giving them the find-1.0-friends-if-they-like-that-idea option.
