But like. Ninjas don't have dogs. Shadow had Interceptor because he was Shadow. The person. That liked dogs. That happened to be a ninja. Look at FF8. Rinoa's nothing close to a ninja no matter how you customize her with GFs. She's a person. That likes dogs. It's not part of the job description, but part of the character.

It's a really fun idea (only because Shadow>everyone in FF6 to me) but by that logic, all rune knights should be part time opera singers in future FF games (Celes), all red mages should have backup moogles for when they're KO'ed(Terra), all gamblers should have airships (Setzer), all blue mages shouldn't be able to speak properly (Gau) and I could go on, but I'm sure you get the point.
