Ok, give the ability "Call Dog" instead of "Mijin Gakure" and everything is fine.
Anyways, i would preffer looking a pet class using a cat instead of a dog.

Sadly, you're mistaken, very, very mistaken. While its true Ninja didnt have any outright enmity generating abilities like Flash or Cure as PLD had, Ninja could subjob Warrior to utalize Provoke. The thing that made Ninja so viable as a tank class were the Utsusemi Shadows, allowing you to bypass attacks completely, that and Ninjas have a damn good native evasion as well. Paladins towards the end of my own playing days began to subjob Ninja for that reason, for the shadows, sacraficing provoke and defender for the saftey net of not being a blood tank. When going up against certain HNMs that hit really really hard, the shadows were invalueable in keeping the tank alive. Its not a question of WHM skill either, if a WHM is spending all of their time just trying to manage a dying PLD's hp with non stop cure spam (which happens sometimes regardless), then their going to be incapable of dealing with other "oh shi-" moments when they pop up. And if a fight goes too far, Refresh will only manage so much to compensate the cure spam from the pld and the whm's. So Ninja was a great tank class, it honestly changed the entire way fights were approached when it became used that way.I like the idea of nin as a pet job but I have to disagree with nin being a good tank job on FFXI, nins have no def lack true hate holding skills (minus provoke with war sub) and a good pld could out tank a nin tank if they knew how to work hate..not hating nin tanks but I have seen alot of them fail...(of course it might have been player skill rather then job at that point but hey..)
Now, personally, I'd rather see the Ninja's of XIV take on a DD/Stealth like role rather than an tank role as well. Where the Ninja job is utalizing things like sneak attacks, smoke bombs, poison tipped shurikens and darts, etc. Making it into a pet class would be different.

That's the great part about NIN in FFXI, they players took it and made it their own tank. The players will always innovate. If the game doesn't pigeonhole us into set rolls, we will innovate in FFXIV also.Sadly, you're mistaken, very, very mistaken. I still have the Brady Games guide that said that NIN/RDM will be the "ultimate elemental fighter" lmao.
Seriously any job with some form to build hate could tank on XI with some work. PLD/NIN, NIN/DRK, RDM/NIN, DRK/NIN, also a BLM/NIN and BRD/NIN.

Hmm I just don't see Ninja as a Pet Job, I would think such label should remain in the hands of Beastmaster, Puppetmaster and Summoners. Heck even Dragoon too~ I miss that wyvern they use to have.
I guess I'm a bit reminiscent of XI that I didn't even notice I described a XI ninja earlier xD, but I do think Ninjutsu attacks (Through the basic elements like fire, wind, water, etc.) + DD from behind + abilities to bypass aggro, would be a good mix of skills for a ninja for FF14. All they would have to do is not implement the shadow clone skill then voila~ It no longer can be a tank. So they would be about utilizing ninjutsu + DD skills from behind, perhaps making combos out of it to increase their damage potential.
Or they could make the shadow clone reset their hate (and less or no stacks). Good luck tanking when your hate is reseting.. lolHmm I just don't see Ninja as a Pet Job, I would think such label should remain in the hands of Beastmaster, Puppetmaster and Summoners. All i see is NIN/, /NIN, /NIN, /NIN...
/NIN or NIN/ should have never been able to tank, as any NIN in FF games would take two hits and experience death. :P
Shadow's dog could come out as one of the Limit break techniques for Ninja, that would be a tipped hat.Oh you mean tank ninja? The one that made all PLD's cry? :P
The dog in this case could be DD which then wouldn't distort, but it would of course divide importances (So like hunter from WoW but melee focused instead.. lol).
I would be more worried about the confusion between beastmaster and ninja though.
It can definitely work, it just may be confusing for those who never heard of shadow and interceptor and will be like "wtf.. ninja.. dog..? what?" lol
Still, if they could somehow sneak it in it would be a pretty cool tip of the hat- at least to an npc.
"You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war."
I'm I the only one reminded by this thread of this:
The ninja girl from the Tales of Symphonia game...though she was also like a summoner, but ninja-ish
