I prefer Ninjas being a hybrid class, being able to use sub-par elemental damage skills through ninjutsu, as well as able to do some DD from behind the enemy. Possibly give them a few skills to bypass enemies that aggro as well.
The Ninja in Final Fantasy VI had a dog, sorta like a tribute, and you just described FFXI ninja in detail lol
