I can see it now. Blaxe Mage!Yes we need to have classes/jobs that are traditional but have a new neat and cool spin on them i can see having a samuari with a staff is out of place along with black mage with a AXE is out of place, but we along with SE need to think outside the box and use old core traditions but bring in the new ones also.

blaxe mage! :]
LOL

Didn't someone suggest we're getting a pet system? I don't think it'll be necessary to make NIN a pet job if you can just happen to be a Ninja that also has a pet.
Actually I was sort of hoping they might add a pet aspect to all jobs. PGL using mammets, CNJ using elementals, MRD using beasts, maybe GLA could use guard dogs (lol), ARC > Squirrels (check FFV), LNC > Wyverns, THM.... skeletons? Get a little necromancy going?
But I'm sure none of the above will come to pass exactly as I wrote it. We might see PUP and BST at some point, and I wont' be shocked if there's a Drake pet.

The pest system is all speculation based on the pics of baby monsters. SE has said nothing about it yet as far as I know.

I've mentioned the Ninja+Dog idea in the past, but only to spite and counter the people that were begging for dragoon to be shackled--I mean, given a wyvern like they were in FFXI.
I like the idea being a throwback to FFVI, provided there's synergy between the NIN and their dog as well as combination attacks. Not that dissimilar to how I envision beastmaster working if it were to be put in this game.
Something I could suggest for NIN weapon skills is that the Dog being alive adds a damage bonus, to encourage the NIN and the healers in the group to help keep the Dog alive. Maybe NIN has Blade: Retsu, which on its own could be treated as a two-hit weapon skill, but with the dog active Retsu becomes a 3-hit weapon skill (two from the NIN, one from the dog). So that the NIN can use their attacks if the dog is dead/inactive, but you are rewarded for keeping your loyal hound alive.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
I would welcome thisas long as NIN never touches what it was in FFXI

Could be interesting. You could have the dog tank/do the majority of the consistent damage with the ninja using debilitating throwing weapons/ninjutsu and only coming into melee range for a short burst of damage.

And just to throw it in there - you do know that Yoshi has said he'd like to include jobs like Ninja and Samurai already, but it wont be something to expect at launch, or probably even for the first year or so of ARR. When they go with those jobs, he'll want the setting for it to be appropriate, so he'll need/want an asian themed area for us to acquire it from.
I just want Musketeer. Mhm.

I wouldnt neccicarily have to be a pet class. Shadow's dog from FFVI only occasionally helped him, other than that it was all Shadow. It wouldnt be so bad for FFXIV's ninja to have an occasional helper as well. Maybe something other than a dog too.
