Not necessarily if your computer was a closed system, i.e. not connected to internet no virus can come in unless you, of course, input it through a flash drive or the like...You are right, I have been studying the computer science since Windows 3.1 and took the Internet class (+inet is what I called it) when I was a senior in high school. I understood how trick it can be, no anti-virus programs can stop it since there are always possible to create a new virus that affect your computer. You see why you are paying yearly for using an advanced anti-virus program since they are getting feedbacks to update the virus database.
