It's already served to dumb down the combat system and the game isn't even out.
    Oh really? In what way?

I'm praying that PvP won't be using our characters in combat against each other. My view is that jobs should not be balanced and able to hold their own against each other, they should just complement each other in a PvE team (like they have done in 1.0).

So I'm hoping that PvP might be similar to the Monster Play method that's soon to be introduced into XI. As well as the Golden Saucer PvP minigames of course. End the epic collectible card game that will ensure that XIV stands head and shoulders above all other MMOs.

Changing the way TP works, GCD, the removal of most position requirements for combos, the ability to move during a weaponskill which by the way looks awkward as hell, and that's just from what we know by now. And yeah, wait until we start seeing that balancing goodness for PvP, which I really doubt will be beneficial for PvE for the most part.

I wonder what happened with these "different skill sets" for PvP and PvE that they were talking about, btw... If they were planing to implement that, then there would be no need for some of the changes they're making.

You're not just saying, you're downplaying. One of the facts that TP was changed is because they want to keep the pace of combat fast. In addition, having your TP regenerate overtime will allow you to access your combo without the frustration of building your TP from 0. Keeping it the out dated way will result in just beating your target down to death with auto attack. Your chance to execute the combo properly is gimped because you have to build enough TP just for it, and use it before it drains out.

Animation Lock brought a giant uproar from the community, because of bosses like Ifrit, and any other situations like it.

Indeed, colosseums have been used to simulate naval battles. Naval battles are not 1 on 1. In Greece, the colosseums have waterways so they can be flooded for such a display, then also to release the water for the next act.

if the Colosseum is what we had in any way like ffxi then it will suck, npc's fighting sucks, npc's racing like the chocobo races sucks ass. it was an empty room let alone could be called a Colosseum. also i hope it's not like swtor witch is what it sounds like to me, some extra big zone for pvp where you ported to and then went right into pvp with factions. i dunno i guess if i want to really play pvp i will play a fully pvp game like warhammer, why do it half assed. but that is just me.

i love the idea from zark about naked pvp where you slowly gear up in the arena from scattered gear and maybe doing things in it, kills and what not to slowly fully gear yourself and your party. sounds really entertaining. very very great idea.

maybe special event pvp zones like other pvp games do,where they open it up once in while so it makes it more fun but they can add exp bonus there. or some kind of bonus for that perticular pvp battle for that week or so that it is open. seasonal clothes events maybe. everyone in there santa clothes.

i've said this before but i hate the running all these pvp in mmo's have, specifically when it's zone type, so this might not be valid for ffxiv since it might be scenario type? but if it involves lots of running after you die, i hate that. they should make fights longer or my favorite thought is after death everyone gets ported to another area where you start fighting again right away, and after death again keep getting ported back and forth to zones or same areas, rather then running back everytime. keeps you active in a fight the whole time.

Personally, i hope we'll some sort of neverending-mode of 1v1. Every too often, the pure PvP i'd like to see, is beyond way too much waiting, random PvE and UI/selection clicking. When the actual PvP starts, there's already a number things that has already affected the upcoming battle in a way or another.

I don't mind the tension building, and the occasional nervous preparing moment or clearing a way to the opponent, but what i'd really like to see, is a sort of instant deathmatch, where you just agree to be ready, and get tossed from one opponent to another. No handicaps, ladder selections, no unnecessary PvE-content in-between etc. Just the opponent and you. When either one goes down, cooldonws would reset and HP/MP/TP would fill up, and the next opponent and arena would already be in front of you.
