Box surrounding HQ items: +1/2/3.

I don't want FFXIV to be FFXI-2, but at the same time there are a few things that I miss that I wouldn't be unhappy if they added them:
Macro books -I'm running out of space already
Gear swapping for optimization -at the moment of course you cannot swap gear while in active mode, and when you do swap gear in a macro there is a second delay between each and every single item ><
/assist
Low level NMs
Pets! I loved my BST /cry.... I even miss seeing those blue flying rats flapping around :P
Haste
2 hours
Player search ability and display of their current job/location- this applies to LS listings; I'd like to be able to see where LS members are and what class/job they are on etc.
Dual wield
I won't mention event areas and BCNMs etc as I remain optimistic that the Company stuff they are going to add will involve some of this![]()

I totally agree with you. As if WOW didn't steal a shit load of features from Everquest. It worked well from them. Trying too hard to be different and trying to be original just for the sake of being original has put FF XIV in the state it is today.

Features from FFXI I'd like to see:
- Housing (Mog Houses)
- Campaign
- Player Comments
- Seek Party Flags
- Some form of large scale PvE "instance" like Dynamis
- AF gear
- Trial of the Magians
I don't think Square should directly rip anything out of FFXI and put it into FFXIV, though. I think a lot of the above systems I'd like in could be vastly improved for FFXIV. DynamisXIV doesnt have to be as much of a zerg as DynamisXI was, it could have a lower cap like 20 or 25 people since people clearly like low manning things anyways. And I think for AF they should do something like Trial of the Magians. Like you get class quests for the first tier of AF but can upgrade them via magian trials. I really liked the idea of trials in XI and even though some of them felt very grindy, they gave people goals to work towards, and they gave developers an opportunity to make less used areas of the world more commonly used for the trials.

I was always one of the minority that was hoping FFXIV would be FFXI-2.. I think there are many systems that should be integrating. Square Enix seem so hellbent on keeping FFXIV that uniquely aside from FFXI that they're completely polarizing systems in what they think is making a different game, when really it is just robbing it of a beautifully majestic game, as per it's potential..
For me, the main fundamentals are easy.. Subjobs instead of overly-versatile class customizability.. /sea all, party flags, mog houses, an auction house and auto attack.
These features could be so easily implemented and to my eye they would fix the games current problems and limitations.
Subjobs would serve to enhance class uniqueness with you having to pick and choose a main and a sub.
/sea all and party flags would solve the distinct lack of party play in the game as we could now search and browse for suitable party members rather than just putting up a recruit and just hoping somebody suitable joins. (DD mage vs. Healing mage).
Mog housing and an Auction House would serve to solve the storage problem as well as completely obliterate any gripes and problems with the current retainer system (many gripes of which I share).
There's my two pennies.
Edit..
Two more things I think should also feature are:
/lsmes.. Such a small detail but none the less one that a game without serves to make organizing and spreading the word of Linkshell Events makes extremely difficult.
Free roaming monster paths..
By this I mostly mean the ability to kite, as well as having a static camp and a designated puller.
Am I the ONLY person that HATES roaming?!
We need more aggro mobs and designated party camping spots!

*Partner-up holiday events.
*Physical drops to be used in quests (Coeurl Meat, diary pages etc.)
*Cutscenes in quests.
And not to sound too condescending or anything but a more functional religious system, and depth especially with lore. In XI Altana was mentioned quite a bit, but in XIV the Gods names are used more so in humorous vain depending on who they worship and the context. I know the thaumaturge guild provides that sort of service, at least in the burial of Eorzea's dead, but I cannot compare that to the nutty yet good natured brothers of Altana. rofl
Back to things I'd like to see:
*Difficulty: As it has been said in the past, it is possible to have this game be casual, without spoon feeding us like children. Making the NPC's harder to find by doing away with map markers, and making walking in front of a new mob a surprising experience was what was fun about XI. You never knew, it was a fun thing to explore.
* A few FFXI Classes (BRD, SMN for example)
* Classes renamed / reworked into staple FF classes (WAR, PLD, WHM, etc)
* Conquest - This was great in FFXI
* Skill Chains
-EXP Loss and De-LVL
-Challenging content/battle system
-Accurate timing of spells and abilities
-Replace Anima teleportation with Chocobos and Airships :P
-Mog House
- HNM camping but with smaller repop and window times
- /search feature
-/Assist
-LS management
-2 hour abilities
While I don't necessarily want to see FF14 turn into FF11-2 (granted, this has both pros and cons), I would indeed like to see some of the more useful functional features that were in 11 that were for some reason completely removed in 14...
- /search or something similar
- seek party flag
- being able to see where your LS mates are loitering/what their current class/ranks are n such in the LS list rather than just who's online
- having a controller button toggle thru the chat log, rather than opening a functionally pointless emote list
- I forgot which buttons did which, but different buttons having different functionalities within the inventory menu, i.e. one button toggles sort, being able to consume an item with CONFIRM (rather than having to open the separate consuable item menu), rather than having the CONFIRM button handle everything
- etc. etc.
