How about a baby Bahamut pet? They could make it purple, too. Lancers might like it best.

I hope when personal housing is implemented that all our pets we collect can be seen playing around either in the yard or inside the house. Would be cool to come home after a day of adventuring and be greeted at the door by half a dozen excitable and adorable critters.

Perhaps said pet will roam around the entierty of the household and make a random noise when you pass by

Pretty interesting suggestions and discussions going on in here! I'm enjoying it! I do agree with Gramul about the New Year's art hinting to a new companion / pet system. I caught wind of this during the Nico Nico live stream when they showed off these 2 images:
When I first saw these, along with the same exact concept art of them on the very first developer's blog, I had this feeling that they were meant for something for the player to obtain and own. The chocobo obviously hinted to the chocobo raising aspect. As for the bomb though, it did not look like an enemy bomb that we are used to seeing. This version looks a little more cartoony and designed slightly differently than the average bomb. That's just my initial take on it anyway, I'm not sure if anyone else felt the same way as well?
Anyway, I'm not exactly sure how the bomb and the baby behemoth are going to work, or if they have anything particularly special planned for them, but I do know for a fact, other than Arcanist / Summoner, that Yoshi P. really wanted to get more pet classes and pet content into the game, along with more mounts to be obtained.
He mentioned several months ago, after Goobbues were released, that future mounts would be harder to obtain through quests or other means. So, perhaps if the little bomb and baby behemoth are implemented in the future, that quests and challenges may be in store to obtain them?
I've only played FF XI and FF XIV as far as MMO's go, and a little bit of SWTOR, so I don't know how other online games utilize non-combat based pets into the player's experience, other than to just follow you around but if we do get to own these little guys, here are some ideas I would expect to see:
1) Separate passive pets with combat-based pets & their respective classes (Beastmaster / Arcanist / etc.)
2) For these pets, allow them to follow us and/or reside in our homes. Think of the little bomb or the baby behemoth, or even your chocobo as the family dog, or bird, or whatever! They can leave home and accompany you, but you can also tell them to stay at home and wander around your house while you're away. When you invite friends and LS members over to your house, they'll be able to see them and have their pets come out and interact with them and do tricks or what not. Just some cool ideas to toss around, since we're on the subject!
3) Be able to name your little bomb and behemoth, just like you're able to name your chocobos! Would you guys and gals prefer accessories to be crafted and sold for them to wear around to create more uniqueness and individuality to separate from others pets? Share your thoughts!
These are some of my inner thoughts and ideas if these guys' are actually a teaser & hint of more pet varieties to come to the world of Eorzea!
I hope they are, because I absolutely LOVE anything related to pets!!! Whether it's pet classes, passive pets that follow you around and do neat stuff, or whatever! Beastmaster, Arcanist, chcoobo raising, you name it!![]()

Sorry just came to me but everyone saw that the bomb is holding coffee and the babemoth is holding a bow and quiver, do you think that is a hint that the pets might do something? Like perhaps carry/support?
Or just for giggles (which is what I initially thought of lol). I know we were talking about bonuses and combat a little.

Yeah, that's another thing I noticed too! I think it can go either way? I thought it was just for laughs to be cute and silly alongside Yoshi P.? But hey! You never know? :PSorry just came to me but everyone saw that the bomb is holding coffee and the babemoth is holding a bow and quiver, do you think that is a hint that the pets might do something? Would be cool! I like the idea of chocobos acting as portable retainers with backpacks and satchels for extra space! Good observation though!![]()

I doubt it's going to be anything more involved than like the vanity pets people have running around with them in WoW. Maybe they'll be obtained through Achievement rewards or something.

Well, I hate to bring in WoW on these forums, but both WoW and SWG had mounts/pets that you could use as personal: Repair NPC, Bazaar NPC (Retainer for XIV), provide small healing regen when out, a small amount of extra inventory.
It doesn't have to all be about combat buffs, these pets can provide other means non-combat oriented.
Personally I like the idea of a mobile retainer! It's a small amount of Inventory and allow you to make some money on the side! As a crafter you could make food, potions, and ammo. Or various consumable items and party members could buy the items from it in small amount of downtime between mobs!
