A benchmark can take a variety of forms. They could release a Character Creation benchmark then.

It was already confirmed it would come before shortly before ARR releases.

Yes they come in all forms but it's been confirmed which is which and when.

Actually it says "To both our Legacy adventurers as well as those eagerly awaiting A Realm Reborn, we hope we can continue relying on your support this new year! (By way of a tip-off, be sure to jot January 7 down on your calendars! " so I'm going to guess that it's either the first benchmark (sans character creator) and/or beta signup site launch.

My inactive character subscriptions are set to end on that date, and they've been set to end on that date since last save, so they've apparently had this date in the works for quite some time.

Edit: actually it's the 5th but close enough.

My inactive slots say January 5. My main not-to-delete says March 31.

I'm not sure what these deletion dates would have to do with this announcement though.
