Where did I suggest 1K? No publisher in its right mind would *ever* ask 1K for a lifetime. The top you can find around is 300 bucks.



Good enough for you doesn't mean good enough for everyone. Not to mention that with "good enough", you don't make the "world class".

This may be overly naive but if ffxi lasted 9 years ffxiv could last 20 years... and value of 20 years of playing is easily past 1k...

300 bucks life time? when 120*7=840 bucks? I highly doubt they will do that to lose 400 bucks per person that goes this route. They would lose money in the long run.

You don't "lose 400 bucks" because there's no insurance that that person would actually stay for all that time otherwise.

You have to be stupid, to not try the game out first before doing something as putting a " Lifetime Sub". The game has to be entertaining enough for the person to even consider doing that option.

You're doing the usual mistake of judging a commercial move on your personal values.

Money has a different value for different people. There are a ton of people around for which 300 bucks are less than a fifth or a tenth or less of their monthly wage, and they have no problem dropping that kind of cash to support a game they're excited about, receiving a fair advantage in exchange.

I suggest checking kickstarter. That'd give you a fair example on how much money many people are willing to drop on a game that hasn't even started development.

"you're making a mistake" is not an attack. And you do that mistake often, like many others around here, so it's "usual".

It's a statistically impossible option, as obviously there are millions of gamers that can't afford dropping that kind of money all at one time, without even counting those that aren't willing.

And mind you, even if we wanted to waste our time discussing impossibilities, if say even only 500,000 people were to subscribe to the game (and that'd be a fairly modest playerbase for an AAA MMO) and them all were inspired by God to do a lifetime subscription, that'd mean 150 million dollars dropped on the game at release, without counting box sales.

I'm rather sure Wada and Yoshida would improvise a little ballet in their offices if that was to happen.

What if i bought shares in SE and I made so much money selling those shares after the money I made that I would be Whoopi Goldberg! I tell you what star lord if that happened than guess what! Like I said for the 15th time, this Option for payment will be the Least likely to happen. But if it does it doesn't harm a thing. All I am saying in this thread is, " Don't get your hopes up" it probably won't happen.
