Nobody can really complain about not getting Lagacy if they wanted it. Because SE announced it and gave people plenty of time to pay for 3 months of 1.0 even if they had not even payed for a single month so far.
if people didnt keep up with the news of legacy thats their fault entirely.
So agree with this, they gave out enough time for everyone who wanted support the game to do it. Emails to all people who has a square enix account, main websites and even fan sites and various other sources.
It gave near a year in advance notice or close to that, so if you decided not to be bothered looking up info of things you want play, I don't see why you should complain. SE give players legacy for a reason, and the reason was just cause in the downtime of the game we stick by it, gave feedbacks, and gave encouragement and support to the team.
One funny thing to note too is, most of the posters that are compalining about it has a join date on forum of so many months ago, funny they can say they didn't know of it. More like didn't bother check :P. Also, only those that had a paying account are the ones that can post on these forums, so most of them should know of it way beforehand, except for those that came in after the cut off period. The game was out for 2 year +, if one comes in during its ending phase and demand legacy, that just silly as as mention, it is a thank you for the people who supported it all the way in their down time and stick with it.

No.. come now, you expect that people will read a deal with the dead line listed (beta) and then expect that another deadline exists? That is silly. Or they should expect that SE will give people "a free month" cutting off 1 month of their possible pay time? That is also silly.Come on now. Are you saying it's too much to ask someone to click on a link at the end of a newspost saying "see here for more details"? That's silly to say the least. And SE being a foreign company has nothing to do with it.
Besides, the whole legacy deal isn't even that beneficial for SE in the long run since they're losing revenue on us. One more reason them giving out legacy again won't happen, imho.
Also legacy was to save the game from hitting the graveyard, to prove to shareholders the game can be remade, and probably importantly to show their fans they want them to stay their fans.
So I do think it was worth their "loss of money". But I dont think they needed to do it.
As Starlord says you have to really deliver it you can't properly deliver information in some bread crumb treasure hunt - which was they had. Luckily for them most people were already in the game with an account so their email was far enough invite to get people looking for it - but there were some people that didnt have an account and came clear from the outside with interest of playing the game and getting Legacy (as seen from the only tab pinned to the side). These people got blind sided.
As for the treasure hunt bit.. they didnt even tell you it was a treasure hunt. lol

E-Mails were sent. I think what happened is those folks that gave up on FFXIV saw the e-mail and immediately trashed it without reading it. Or they did read it and thought it not worth their time and trashed it. Others might have even clicked on the link to the Lodestone to get a bit more information but then decided it was not worth their money and... trashed the idea in their head. Whichever the scenario, now that SE has advised what the advantages are for having a Legacy account, those folks that might fall under the categories I have listed are angry.. Instead of being angry at themselves, they are busy lashing out at SE.
Please stop the madness. It's petty. It's ridiculous. It's a waste of energy. What has happened has happened. Move the fek on. Legacy players - stop agro'ing the non-Legacy players. Non-Legacy players, cut the crap.
But... but... I LOVE TRAINING THEM!! ( Follow the leader!Legacy players - stop agro'ing the non-Legacy players.)

MPKs everyone in the thread!
lol
Definitely would see those players being angry lol. I think everyone would understand that feeling too. Though as you said those players should understand its only their fault for not responding.E-Mails were sent. (none of my posts are referring to the people aware and did nothing, only to those who were outside the system incoming which since how bad FFXIV 1.0 did were very few of them)
I would say that 90% of the posts in these threads are from people with Legacy status. There aren't that many people complaining about Legacy but the few that do seem to be getting alot of attention. I see people complaining that it wasn't posted clearly but I remember seeing the little banner on the front page of the Lodestone with a link with more information.
It's my opinion that SE after terrible reviews from every person, website, magazine etc. that reviewed the game decided that they needed to attempt to protect the Final Fantasy name seeing how it's their flagship game. In an attempt to raise revenue to remake the game, they offered us fans and anyone else that knew about FFXIV the opportunity to be a part of something with benefits if they were willing to pay and stay. Maybe also an attempt to stop the mass exodus of players once they announced they were needing to implement pay to play to continue with the game.
All in all it is partly luck, partly being a fan that will stand by the franchise no matter what and partly just paying attention to the Lodestone (maybe a few other things too) but it's human nature to be jealous of people that have things that they want.
My advice with these threads is if you don't like these threads then don't post in them because posting in them only perpetuates the thread and encourages people to post more of the same. If you have Legacy status, congratulations! If you don't... I am truly sorry that you missed your chance for whatever reason but please try and be mature about it and enjoy the game when it comes out.
The reason for playing this game is mainly to have fun (over simplified) so if you're not having fun... do something else instead of ruining other's fun.
Not only the above, but it was posted on many external websites such as IGN, Kotaku, Siliconera, 1up and more. The requirements for Legacy Status were published well in advance. People were given ample time to comply with those requirements. Cut off date for compliance was also posted well in advance. I know this may sound cold but with all that I have no sympathy for those who decided not to qualify at the time. It was their choice. They must live with it.
There honestly is no reason to be mad about this unless you don't have a PC and the PS3 was the only option.
