"Sony" and "inexpensive" is an oxymoron. That's why there was/is all the hype about oculus rift. They claim it is going to be affordable, while having lag-less head-tracking (you move your head and the picture moves synchronously), something that wasn't available so far. Also, unlike previously, some big guys in the gaming industry seem to have taken interest in it, so the chance of games supporting it is much higher.

Well actually the only reason the CC company didn't get sued is because they had a monopoly on everything technical. They got a lot of flak though and had to shut down the game every time a new accident happened. Pretty dumb of them to continue using the black box as a base even after they knew it was also the reason for the accidents... but then, without the black box, the World wouldn't have it's nice AI, the main selling point of that MMO.

Dubbed anime can be so annoying at times.

Seriously, I want to see the action and know what the hell is going on. I don't watch anime to read, lol. The character could be summoning a monster or a huge spell or something at the top of the screen, and I miss some of the animation because I'm reading the freakin text at the bottom to know what he's saying. Aurgh! Personally, I can deal with dubbed anime. Because I want tosee what's happening. AND I DON'T KNOW JAPANESE. lol

Sword Art Online is not dubbed but excellently subtitled in English... and its great selling point is that it has superbly written characters and a very solid story. Without spoiling it for you, the synopsis is very clever and generally revolves around the completion of 100 floors of PvE and dungeons (with each floor having its own unique city).

This is one reason why everyone who is familiar with the SAO anime are also excited about Yoshi's hints regarding the crystal tower in ARR... log off before completing it and you lose everything? Perhaps on floor 99 we fight Bahamut, floor 100 is Yoshi and the Dev Team... and then on "Hidden floor 101" we fight CEO President Wada?

As for the dothack series (especially the G.U trilogy with Haseo), I'm also a huge fan as well... loved that trilogy and my first linkshell I created on FFXIV 1.0 was actually called Icolo. And if you are very intuitive, you will also notice several loose similarities to 1.0. Heck, when people finally got into Ul'Dah back in 2010, there was a brief but excited discussion on other forums that it resembled a more polished version of the dothack city Mac Anu... (see image below)

The great news about the ARR housing system also brought some brief happy discussions about the dothack system; whereby the two largest guilds in the game had entire areas to themselves. From what we see, the free company guild houses are truly massive and I can't wait to see how large the chocobo stables, gardens etc will be.

So yeah... watch Sword Art Online when you get a chance. 25 solid episodes of epicness.

Straight-to-DVD dubs aren't as terrible as what they were when dubs were first being produced back in the day. They've significantly improved. That being said, I usually get pelted with rocks when I say sub isn't all that much of a better experience. It's mostly the weaboos and purists that scream "OMG JAPANESE ORIGINAL OR GTFO" that annoy me. It also really depends on which language you're exposed to it first.

For me, shows like Evangelion, and Slayers, those to me are great dubs. I've tried to watch them in Japanese and they're just meh. Sure the acting is great and all, but I just prefer to hear the dialogue in English. Same with Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya, I was exposed to those shows in Spanish so the Japanese versions really don't strike me as interesting or worthy of all the worship people claim.
My friend works for an anime distirubting company, she can read/write/speak Japanese fluently as she has taught English in Japan for a short period before. She understands my problem and suggests anime with decent subs. She mainly told me to beware of any ADV Dubs for they are aweful. I guess I have good taste of anime because so far I have not run into any terrible dubs.

I don't have to read long before my headaches kick in, I am straining against multiple eye conditions so it can be any length of time from 2-5 mins or if the text is large enough and I could probly read for 10-20 mins. It sucks but I'm used to it by now 26 years of coping can do that.

SAO? Solid Story? Wat. The animation was good, that's about it.

Then it seems all the subtleness of the entire series was lost on you. Shame really, because the real attraction to SAO is its storyline. A very distinct reoccuring feature about japanese anime are the subtle content that is always inherent within... and for SAO there is a lot going on that shows several facets of the characters. Viewers are able to identify with several aspects of the series, which is what really makes it popular... not just the art and animation style.

Here's a hint... the real life Kirito dives into online games for certain reasons regarding his family, and his online xter shows various sides of his extreme strong will, his humility, his weaknesses and so on. Same goes for Klein, Agil and even Asuna (whose very wealthy family has some corporate ties to the company that developed the Cardinal and ALO software).

Heck, even the name "Heathcliff" was likely chosen by a certain someone in the series because of its significance from a very famous real life book.

Finally, I think its also HIGHLY recommended that you read the light novel and the various wikia sites online... they will flesh out a lot more about the series and make you understand why it now has almost 7 million copies in print.
