After playing tera & wow, trust me wanting to play a DD class gets very old very fast when seeking a party with dungeon finder. This robot chicken clip comes to mind when I seek party as DD after dungeon finder first went into full effect on those games and slowly saw the reality of it(as a dps/dd).

My hope is you won't have to be a TANK role to actually tank. Perhaps jobs with heavy armor can tank, although not as effectively as jobs designed to TANK. Same with healers. Otherwise there is bound to be a shortage since there is only 1 dedicated healer at the moment and the armoury system forces traditional white magic (Cure, Protect, Regen, etc) into WHM-specific thereby not allowing other roles to use it. Guess that all could change with rebalancing.
God, I hope not. This is the current issue with XI. Paladin is on the backburner because every other melee job short of DRK is capable of tanking a good majority of the content. And SE refuses to give PLD any sort of true, comparable DD potential out of fear of making it immortal and broken. Totally agreed. Games that don't necessitate a specific tank class normally suck big time and have battles that lack depth in a major way.God, I hope not. This is the current issue with XI. On a side note, good to see that they brought Mindflayers back.
This is one of the few things i don't like about SE...they refuse to accept the Tank concept of other games that keep a monster's attention 100% no matter what...
Well having this ability makes a good tank... it promotes mediocre players to practice and become great players...
