If the game is going to launch in june, it won't have anything to do with E3, but simply with the fact that they'll need that development time.

Careful there.. unless your ready to show your SE employee ID card.. (Brand managment degree LOL.. come on.. be serious... and 'game writer'? yeah, you and half the gaming population.. neither lend any creditability to your argument).

That being said, I agree with the jist of your agruement. I don't think it makes alot of sense to effectively delay launch of XIV solely because you want a marketing push during E3. Though, SE would be crazy to not market XIV at E3, but you weren't claiming that. They can launch whenever the game is ready, and still do an effective marketing push at E3.

I think the hype will be pretty large for XIV during E3, as it will be SE's chance to show what thier MMO can do versus the upcoming next-gen MMOs titles. Currently XIV has been compared to what's out now and what's been out for the past decade, but if XIV is going to succeed it needs to compete with future titles only being previewed/demo'd at E3 as well.

Especially with launch being so close to E3, and the fact that we are dealing with a MMO (specifically the time investment as compared to offline titles), alot of players who are not already on the XIV bandwagon may see another MMO on the horizon they like alot more at E3. They'd be alot less inclined to pickup ARR if it doesn't shine in comparison, and just hold out for some months for whatever game actually did stand out.

I'm happy that they are willing to take what time it takes to make the game the best it could be. Final Fantasy XIV was my 1st mmo to play at the ripe old age of 35 lol. So with age comes patients, but don't get me wrong I'm waiting for the release with patients though. I enjoyed 1.0 probably more than most seeing how I'm sad to see it end, but from what i've experience in the alpha test. It's going to have a better start with a tone of content that 1.0 didn't have at launch. Yoshi-P has done a great job with 1.0 and it will also reflect in 2.0. Just give them time to creat the best game they can.

Square-enix at E3 will mostly show stuff that we already known about XIV. I see them showing FFXIII-3, FFvs13 & FFXV over XIV unless they decide to show work of the first stages of what to expect in the first expansion but I don't see that happening till 2014. You have to remember SE bought Eidos interactive & a few other companies that are lesser known outside of japan. SE could show another set of games from Eidos like they did with Tomb Raider (rebooted), Hitman (continuing the story of Agent 47). What to expect next I can predict seeing "Legacy of Kain & Thief (reboot) " at E3 2013.

i somewhat agree and also disagree. SE has more delays than they always anticipate. But at the same time if they weren't taking delays into account it would say a certain phase would take 3 weeks to complete as opposed to 3-5 weeks.

They are giving themselves wiggle room in the roadmap but that has nothing to do with if something seriously unanticipated happens and it pushes everything back further than what was originally accounted for. It isn't like this stuff is set in stone. The future is unwritten after all.

As to the OP I am glad to see legacy members getting sweet treatment but as a long time supporter of this revamp I can't help but say that the longer this fiasco drags on, the more my interest in it wanes. I get that the remake takes time, and they want to get it right, but I am failing to understand why the 1.0 version came down in November if the new version was 8 months away. Bummed.

E3 will be around open beta (longest case, subject to change of course) so I wonder if SE will be handing out beta passes, if it hasn't launched yet.

SE said their roadmap wasn't to scale, so I scaled it. Two scales, using the shorter and longer time estimates (each white square equals 1 week).



By SE's estimates, that puts the PS3 beta between late March and early May, and launch Mid-April to late June. All is subject to change, of course. No reasonable person wants them to rush it.

Yes even Rokien must of decided the game wasn't for him and stopped posting, the majority of people did not care for his posts and constant complaining over every little issue he had with the game.
