Counter to Elitism

I've gone back and forth between casual and hardcore as time has allowed over the past couple years, and I can say on both sides of the spectrum I never had a problem getting in on any activity I wanted to do. XIV, I think, has a pretty good balance between casual and hardcore.

The materia system helps a bit with this. The hardcore players can have their vanity satisfied by having their equipment blinged out with high-tier materia, but the casual player can get gear that gets the job done just fine, but can't be melded with materia.

Don't they have the right to be though? They put in the work and time that is required to reach the Bis lists, I think as casuals we just need to be proud of what we can get accomplished in the time we have on the game.

I used to be one of the elites I grinded night and day for everything I had on Rift then I finally decided it was time to live my life and I fell behind so fast but I"m ok with that I think you need to realize that.

I'm happy with what I have on my toons and Yes Im a casual! and I love it gives me time to live my life and succeed in my career.

Well if your looking to avoid the elitism mentality then I suggest reading my thread on NA group seeking players who want to do events in a endgame LS fashion but with a casual play style. Once 2.0 is released and they give us the option to jump servers me and a few of my close friends will be making a LS that will be helpful to casual players. Our main focus will be to help others while getting stuff done for our own accounts. We plan on finishing our relics while helping the group. Our play times will be PST.

Elitism is going to exist regardless of what kind of game you have. It's human/nerd nature.

What you can do, though, is make the game enjoyable aside from the elitists. Creating optional difficulty gradients and low entry barriers for your game is going to make it enjoyable for the masses; and providing optional, extremely difficult content with distinct rewards is going to make it beloved by the elitists.

You simply cant get rid of elitism, Unless they perfectly balance ALL jobs (impossible), Make fights that every job is viable with (impossible), Get rid of the materia system (wont happen with out a ton of rage), Make all Drop rates 100% (Never gonna happen). And finally give everyone 7/7 Relic weapons for free. (You get the point?)
