I guess I am a little confused on what their is to counter on elitism. I am a hardcore player and spent a lot of time on the game. I am friendly and don't make fun of anyone. I would consider my self an elitist. I'm never happy with my gear and I'm always looking to improve. I play only 5 job in the game but when it came to getting relics i had to have them all. So I did get 7/7 in the long run.

Sure i have certain people that i play with a lot that are in my linkshell. Yes we do have certain obligations for getting into the shell. We don't want to spend time on running old content we have already maxed out. Does that make me a prick? Nah I don't think so. After running 20+ people through Ifrit Extreme and making sure everyone had at least 3-4 relics in the shell. The first thing I'm not going to do in ARR is run through Ifrit Extreme or anything that has been in the game for the last few years.

I did in 1.0 play with several casuals players that were not in my shell and I played by their strategy. Sure would I offer a suggestion here and there. That doesn't mean i was a prick. It just means I was trying to help them out. If they didn't like it I would drop it. I think what you want to counter are people being dicks and just plain rude. This does not have anything to do with casual players, hardcore players, or elitism. Some people take pride in their character but, is this a problem no i don't think so. They are not hurting you and if they don't want you to play with them than why would you want to play with them.

I repeated the Ifrit Hard mode fight so many times that I can't recall how many it was. A few of them I did for weapons, but once I got those weapons, I kept doing the fight for two reasons:

    1) Because it was FUN
    2) I like showing off on PLD >.>

But the point was, no matter how much people raged, the Ifrit fight was genuinely fun. Sure, I've been in my fair share of wipes, been killed by my share of eruptions and paid my share of repair fees to crafters (You're welcome Rabanastre/Durandal ~.~), but it was, 90% of the time, a fun experience. The 10% of NOT enjoying myself wasn't caused by repeating the content, it was caused by players with poor attitudes.

Repeating content does not equal "Not fun". In fact, because I repeated it so much, I became a fracking awesome tank at it. I'm not trying to be arrogant, but a lot of skill comes with experience, and because I experienced it often enough to develop good skills with it, it made it that much easier/fun for the people who hadn't done it as much or were just getting started.

Not all repeat content is good, not all of it is bad. If it's well designed, then the only thing that can make it bad is other players.

can't agree with this more... It just goes to show that we play games to enjoy them. We make content to enjoy it. And when something's really well made, you can enjoy it many times over. It might start with something new, but over time it also gains the joy of practice and perfection.

That said, I don't think most of the FFXIV raids were quite fun enough to warrant their drop rates. But on the other hand, I'd rather have almost no loot and a really, really fun raid in the first place. So, more directly speaking, FFXIV instances could have been better (not to say that they were bad), and I hope to see that in ARR.

    *Emphasis on "hope", not 'expect'.

If ppl only need todo a dungeon 2-3 times to get their drops, it won't take long and they will whine cause they don't have enough content....

No "l337" is going to say "Hey! Let's not bring our established friend/LS mate/proven high performer and bring this less experienced player to bump RNG 3% and possibly cause a wipe or fail"...

Like picking up a first timer to Ifrit Extreme? Pass!

When you in a endgame guild the idea is to get everyone with good gear. I know most ls don't do that but simple fact is if you have 20+ members and you only getting relics for 10 of them why even have the other 10? You going to complain later when you can do the 25 dungeon runs.

Sadly i wish more people did that people never get anything because they never get invite which sucks. I'm happy i got my 3 relics i sucks at doing all the jobs in there beside the war part and i never get hit by anything so that a +. Let's hope there a few ls out there that help there members and new people.
