Turn out that the server is still online up till December 31st

I'd be content with just being able to walk around single player, just simply for nostalgia. I highly doubt that would take much work. There are other games that do this simply for playing single player that aren't MMOs. They run the server application in a separate process that's built into the launcher and therefore transparent. The 1.0 servers already unload areas that have no people in them to reduce server load (this is why you can die to something and come back like 10 mins later and its hp hasn't regenned if you didn't get near it) so it should be able to manage running in the background.

I think anything beyond what I'm suggesting would probably be an extreme amount of work load for the developers so I don't see it happening. They are already highly overworked. It could be something they could implement after 2.0 settles in, but it's most likely not going to happen, sadly.

I do 100% agree with this though, they should have done this when the servers came back up after the save, or after Dalamud "landed."

Let see, if Im the server admin, I will pass this request to system admin (cause server admin have no privilage in this) while muttering myself "what the hell is GM mode???"
The system admin himself will reply "What the hell is GM Mode???"
Because really, theres no such a thing as GM mode. GM privilage is limited to walk through wall
So theres no such a thing as GM mode, will they make one for you?
Considering 1.0 no longer generate income, why should they?

Because honestly, if you aren't gonna do that, you might as well shut them down now and save yourself some cash, because there's no reason for the servers to be available currently.

The reason the server still up is because some player ask SE to keep it up. Im not gonna say "I told you so" to you because I dont know whether you request this or not

anyway, have we ever witnessed this so called "god mode"? has there any GM suddenly jump from no where to an almost wipe Ifrit party and suddenly pull it? because all I know, GM only action is to retrieve character that stuck in some weird zone
Yes, we once have GM-played Urianger, coming to town and camp spamming buff. but none of those buff act as "Invincibility". In fact, those buff is an in game buff (like regen, increase max HP and all)
So you want SE to create something that doesnt exist, only to be use for another 2 weeks, for nothing?
That from skill/character aspect
We still have dungeon/battle aspect
Dungeons and battle spefically designed for party. there is no solo content for dungeons and battle. Again SE need to create something that doesnt exist, only to be use for another 2 weeks, for nothing?

Last, why did SE keep the server up even with ZERO player? IMO, they have a promise, and they try to keep that promise. My hat off for you, SE management
