Without party content, what would you really be doing? Leves? Mining? Without the economy of the MW, where would you get other gear? XIV just wouldn't work as a standalone; the game would have to be completely different.

If all you care about is gear, then yes. But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the main scenario, seventh umbral era/grand company quests, and being able to explore the landmarks of the world.

Watching that stuff on YouTube videos isn't the same.

No it isn't. I gave them a lot of money for this game. And I don't even want to think about how much of my money they got for FFXI. As Joe Dirt once said, "It's not about what you want. It's the consumer."
