One of my favorite movies when I was a kid was the Mel Brooks film "Spaceballs". Today, if I ever feel like watching it, I pop it in and enjoy it (that's what she said).

If I ever feel like revisiting Tolkein's Middle Earth novels, or Neruomancer, Jurrasic Park, Snow Crash, etc. for the zillionth time, I can always pick them up and read 'em again.

If I want to play my favorite video game of all time, Chrono Trigger, I have multiple ways to do it.

Once ARR goes live, I can no longer play through the content of the current FFXIV. By the same token, on the inevitable day the servers of FFXI are shut down for good, that game will no longer be playable.

My question for the development team is, could you consider one last update for FFXIV version 1? This would be an update that allowed the game to be played offline, and would adjust player and/or monster strength as such so all the content of the game can be completed solo.

Yes, this would mean there would probably be zero challenge involved in winning the fights, but I would want it not for the challenge as much as the ability to re-experience the story and world that we've been running around in for the past couple years, and which will soon be gone forever.

It wouldn't be hard to do, right?
