If you check the latest Alpha video SE posted on gathering/crafting, there's three tabs near the chatlog: General, Battle and Event. It could be Event is for quest text.3. Have NPC dialogues appear in the chat log.
In the released alpha videos, I noticed that NPC dialogues don't appear in the chat log. Since I'm very interested in the lore of Eorzea, I always saved the NPC dialogues after completing a quest or reading something of interest, widening my chat log, activating all the filters and taking a screenshot of it. Example:

You can see NPC dialogue in the chat window.3. Have NPC dialogues appear in the chat log.

I've all the saved dialogues in a dedicated folder, so I can always read them again (it's hard to remember everything).
If in A Realm Reborn dialogues won't appear in the chat log anymore, then I'd have to take a screenshot of every single one, which wouldn't be very comfortable.
Therefore, is it possible to introduce an option (that could be triggered On or Off, for those who want it or not) where the NPC/Quests dialogues appear in the chat log, too?
That's all. Thanks a lot if you could take into consideration to implement these suggestions.
I found a position in the german quest video where the npc dialogues are not filtered out.

Yeah, from what it looks like in the video, you got three tabs. My google translate says one of those is General info, another is battle info, and the third is "event", which is where your NPC dialogue appears. Kinda cool. You can see NPC dialogue in the chat window.

The whole image has a blueish tint to it, though. Look at the backdrop behind Yoshi-P, which I'm certain is white. In that picture, it's taken on a blueish hue. That could be why the gray windows on the screen (and yes, they are gray) look sort of blue. That's not gray. it's blue. No amout of glare (which is only visible in one small spot on the screen) could change that to be not blue. It definitely looks different from some of the earlier images we've seen, which suggests they've either switched to a different color or you can customize it.
I even used ColorZilla's eyedropper on that image over the game windows. Everywhere I click that isn't a piece of text or some nonbackground object is primarily blue (meaning there is more blue than red or green- the actual color is more "purplish". here are some color samples for your enjoyment:
rgb(71, 63, 112)
rgb(71, 57, 113)
rgb(45, 44, 78)
If that was "gray" the three numbers would be much closer to eachother.
With regards to the UI It is possible they already have a few presets in place as far as which colors and styles you can choose from. I could see the ui being a huge part of add ons later
They don't look "sort of blue", nor do they look the kind of blue that could be cauesd by a tinge from the cool lighting in the room. they are just plain blue. That could be why the gray windows on the screen (and yes, they are gray) look sort of blue.
Maybe our community reps can ask Yoshi-P what color those windows are. If he says they're gray, will you argue with him?
um... this is probably the stupidest reply ive read in a while. What does add on support have to do with SQUARE ENIX providing options to configure the user interface? FFXI had different options for window appearance, there's no reason why FFXIV shouldn't (which I believe was part of the point of this thread).
In short, we don't need add on support to have interface options. The core UI should be robust enough to not need add-ons in the first place- them being for people who want to go beyond that to customize. I don't think something as basic as tinting the windows a different color has to be something invented by the community.
