    Leveling with Quests in 2.0?!

Do you guys think that there will be enough quests to go around?

I mean, leveling all of you DoW/M in quest lines, taking you from area to area like in certain other popular MMORPGS?

There's still leves I know, but I don't think you start with your allowance at 99, and if you have already leveled 1 job in Gridania, Ul'dah and Limsa are you then forced to do leves?

Sorry if this has been brought up before - couldn't find it anywhere.
    Just worried, that's all.

There will be enough quests since judging by other MMOs that uses it for it's primary function, you'll mainly get quests like:

    Kill 5 (small animal)
Kill 5 (small animal) 3 (not so small animal) 2 (insert humanoid type) 1 (boss type)
    Kill 5 (bigger animal)
    Kill 5 (even bigger animal)
Collect 1-5 (insert sparkling item near NPC)
Talk to (NPC) > (NPC) > (NPC)
    Investigate (area) > fight (monster)
Kill 1 (insert sub boss) > (Kill 1 insert boss)
    Deliver (Item) to NPC.

Those will loop infinitely, so they can make a large quantity of quests to last you for a very long time. So yeah it will take you from area to area and rinse and repeat the same style quests over and over while sprinkling in a dungeon here and there, that's what they're going for. They say you can do "a mix of things to level" but the primary, a.k.a main and efficient way to level is doing that.

Throw in the one time main storyline, and that's pretty much the level progression. The only true fear would be if they make the game "start" at end-game like MMOs nowadays which means the quality of progression from start to then may be very low.

Add escort quests, loot quests and emote quests and you described all quests we have in 1.x already (from the first story quest to the last gc quest).

Why do everyone forget dungeons and FATE? And I'm sure normal monsters give still exp. Sure, normal grind party wouldn't be fast like Natalan anymore, but it was too fast anyway.

Is convenient for them to forget ...people obsessed with endless killing the same mob for hours at one spot.. i think they mad because you wont be able to multi-task with 2.0's exping systems ....spiritbonds in 1.0 let you be almost full afk ..lol..i really can't wait to try out leveling in 2.0 i left 1 job at lvl1 on purpose to experience it

for those wanting grinding ,dungeons will be packed with mobs and they will be level synced and be x3 bigger than the largest dungeon in 1.0 ...that's a lot of stuff to kill through

No one forgets about dungeons and 'FATE':

Straight from SE themselves. This is the primary means of level progression which means when you talk about the direction they're taking, it's quest based unless they decide to change their minds between beta and launch.

Other stuff exists, but they're designing quest chaining as the meat.

You sure he is not just referring to alpha because being able to lvl in raids, quest, fate, leves, and choco escorts just does not sound only quest based.

For the first 1 or 2 jobs, or else everyone will get bored fast leveling the 3+ jobs on a completely different manner, I hope Yoshi has been smart enough to take this into account in the overall design.

Pretty sure yoshida said in ARR (not just alpha) the main level progression is quest based. Primary doesn't mean only.

Hopefully, because that is the main problem with quest based level progression lol.

I'm pretty sure there will be enough quests for:

Start 3 jobs and rise them up to lvl ~30 just with the quests and instances around each of the 3 cities.
Get at least 1 job to 50 if not more.
Get to know the world and maps by wandering looking for more quests.

And by the time you are done with quests you will have 99 levequests for sure, and all the Gathering and Crafting quests at your disposal.

Also I've proposed a scaling quest system in this thread you my find interesting.

Yoshi addressed this question a while back, saying that there will be enough quests at launch to level a class from 1-50 and still have a lot of quests leftover. He also pointed out though that levelling will occur not just through quests, but also through dungeons, leves, story missions, real time events (FATE), etc.

So there will will be plenty of quests, but there are also more ways to level than just quests.
