On top of that, Youtube has a brand new tool within the Video Manager to not only trim videos, but to combine them. You shouldn't have to worry too much about acquiring a video editing program.![]()

Handbrake is awesome, I'll add my voice to that camp.
Thanks for everyone's replyes!
I'll use Fraps and then converting with VirtualDub, which is the combo i used back in FFXI, altho the videos are huge >.< because i play as 1920x1080 on 1080i.
the max I could do myself was 720p but still the files were huge!
What I DID discover is that you can keep almost near exact quality by compressing using H.264. Both Handbrake and Virtual Dub have it, AND youtube likes it. Win win!
DivX and Xvid are going to make your gorgeous videos look HIDEOUS, so I'd stay away from using those if possible.

Ok, thanks for the heads up![]()
I'm ghetto. I use Fraps and then the Windows Movie Maker to compress and edit. Probably not the best way but it's been ok for me.
I use Pinnacle studio for all my video editing stuff. Now that I know how to do it, it handles 1080p like a bawse. The vids are practically the same quality as they were while I was playing it, lol.
The file is so large because you're recording raw, uncompressed video and it's a high resolution. You need to use some kind of video editing software to encode (compress) the video.Do you guys know any other trustworthy game recording tool, other than Fraps? Because 1 minute of record FFXIV 1.X its a 2GB file...... which is kinda way big because id have to keep converting files every 10m or so...
I pretty much do what rubicon does. It's not exactly ideal but it works well enough for general purpose.
I use Bandicam and it's a damn fine good record. Depending on your settings(Max Settings) the file size for a video can range from 35mins = 8gb 1080p. It's actually a really trustworthy video recorder and I use it every time.
Edit: The only downside to Bandicam is; since it's compressing the video during recording, if you don't have a good enough rig you'll suffer from FPS dropping. If you do have a good computer, then you shouldn't have any FPS drops. The video doesn't come out as clean as Fraps but it's still almost on par with the video quality. Checked videos on Youtube about it too and I'm not the only one that thinks Bandicam's video quality isn't that far off from Fraps', they're both almost the same with Fraps having a noticeable but not much better video quality difference.
Going to try to not be extremely bias to Bandicam, so forgive me if you're one of those people who likes to have a XXX vs XXX argument.
Bandicam:
(Pros)
-Video Size are half the size of Fraps.
-Quality almost as good as Fraps.
-Already compresses the video for you so you won't have to.
(Con)
-Extremely Heavy on CPU.
-Depending on your computer specs may have FPS dropping issues.
-Video Quality a tad bit less then Fraps.
Fraps:
(Pros)
-Video Quality is amazing.
-Doesn't eat CPU.
-More widely used then Bandicam so it's easier to manage.
(Con)
-Extremely LARGE video files compared to Bandicam.
-Have to compress videos yourself later if you want to have space on your HDD.
So it's personal preferences really. I preferably use Bandicam because I like it more so can't really argue about that lol.
