    I couldn't agree more, and I am shocked by how many people here actually prefer to have their items practically handed to them rather than taking on the challenge that requires skill. If ANYONE can do it, you won't be able to sell your items for much at all, and there won't be all that much of an economy.

    This. Gathering seems more up my alley as per 2.0. Which says something, as I generally hate crafting and gathering.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    IMO FFXIV crafting and gathering has always been better than every other MMO. Its just going to be less of a hastle in ARR now.

    I like how the crafting was streamlined without changing too radically from the original system. Gathering though, seems... oversimplified.

    Not enough whining in this thread yet. The other video threads had way more complaining, let's try to keep things up to standard.

    On topic, I like what I'm seeing with gathering. My inventory filled up items I didn't want half of the time, so it's good to be able to narrow down items you'd actually want to gather, whether it's to sell or to use yourself. It looks like the Triangulate ability shows all nearby gathering nodes, and when he used Arbor Call, it searched out the highest grade node in the area, even though it wasn't on his immediate minimap. The XP chains seem like a nice addition too.

    As far as the mini-game going away, I could really care less. It seemed more like one of those early measures implemented to combat RMT as far as I'm concerned, and I eventually memorized where each thing was anyway, so it's kind of a moot point to have it.

    For crafting, the recipe book is a GREAT addition. Based on the character they showed crafting, it looks like by level 9 you have two abilities for crafting already, one that raises quality and another that restores some of your CP. Durability is no longer 100 on every item and it seems the durability varies between the items they picked to craft. It also looks like the durability goes down by a static amount of 10 each time. I also like the completion log they were showing by checking off the recipes they've already made. I imagine completing my crafting logs for all my crafts will be something to pass some time.

    Anyway, I'm happy with what I'm seeing for gathering and crafting overall. It looks way more accessible and faster paced now.

    ya especially since inv is much smaller now too. it would be horrible to get random loots clogging up inv all the time.

    As far as picking what you are going for on the list and failing and getting nothing... Where does it show/say in the video that you get nothing? I didn't see him fail any of his attempts in the video. Maybe you get nothing, maybe you get a random item. Has the Dev team confirmed either way? I don't know, so I am asking
