This because 2D face decoration (tattoos, warpaint, makeup, scars and whatever) shouldn't IMHO be an alternative to 3D items like glasses and such. Having both should be possible.
I agree. While adding these options to the "face" slot would solve the problem that Dreamer mentioned, it wouldn't solve it very well. New quirks would arise, such as wanting to wear make-up and glasses at once. Making these 2D options available in the character creation process as well as a barber shop of some sort seems to be the best solution.

Yep, it wouldn't even be a bad "solution" as much as a placebo. Actually, I'm pretty much sure that it's easier, development-wise, to just add further features to the character creation than to make separate items for them.

I support this idea. ^^ Down the road sometime when SE has time to, it would be very nice to see this happen.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    Ragnarok Online

Ragnarok Online (though I hate to bring other games up) had three slots for headgear. They termed the regions 'upper' (for headgear), 'middle' (for glasses/earrings/eye-wear), and 'lower' (for mouthpieces).

While I feel that we don't really need a 'lower' region for headgear, I believe the terms 'upper' and 'middle' sounds slightly more pleasant than 'head' and 'face.'

I'm definitely in support of this ^__^

Though, I won't be wearing any capes. I know, right when I put on a cape I'll be running around and a Goobbue will grab my cape and fling me right into it's mouth.

That's a really good point! I like the sound of those better. Like I said in the OP, "Face" gear does sound a bit silly. Thanks for the input, Forde.

Bahaha, yeah. Giving them more places to grab onto would be a horrible idea!

But in all seriousness, while capes wouldn't be too bad as long as they're optional (or toggle-able), I'm seeing visions of Guild Wars where everyone had a cape...and I'm not liking it. But as people in this thread noted, there have been plenty of people in previous Final Fantasy games with very attractive "capes," if you will.
