Another new player whos stuck

Hi im on the Karnak server and im newto the game.
I love the offline game and thought i would try this for a change. im having trouble with it tho i can't find any way of communicating with people or finding people who want to group up for quests. There is a chat bar at the bottom but if i ask anything on there i get no reply. Also i cant find anything like a guide book or simple instructions on how anything works. I know there are people who probably know everything but it took me 2 hours to find the market wards only to find there was nothing in there that i could use or make sense of. I am starting to get a bit frustrated, even finding out where i should apply my stats for my class of character seems like and endless task. Is there a book or dummies guide that i can read so i can get some kind of idea of what im doing ?

I do have another question.
Is there a way of chatting across one area or region so i can find people and get involved in grouping and a bit of social banter.
I hate to bring it up but like in WOW where you can have a chat and make friends in the game?

The best way to socialize is to get a linkshell. You can look on this site under WORLDS and pick your server. Then look at the linkshells offered and join one. If you want to chat in a limited location type /say first. If you want to communicate in a wider area type /shout. If you want to communicate with a single player without anyone else hearing the conversation or if that person is in a different location type /tell.
