Just don't take it personally. I got hands on experience with your personal issues and I find it quite unnecessary and childish. If someone calls you a White Knight, either ignore it, or give a good reasoning to your post. Reputations in a small community can be diminished easily by a slip up of a post, be the better person.
It is a double-edge in the community. If you bash ARR, people will say "You are bashing it to just bash it." and if you praise something, you get called a "White Knight". It is a no win scenario and about 90% of debates lead to this example.
For the development team, as much complaints as I have, I overall get the big picture. This is really their first step in marketing and catering to a modern MMO community. Standards were quite different during the age of FFXI and communication between developer and player are getting higher every year, and people know that. Everyone likes to voice an opinion (good or bad), and a lot of crap the developers and reps have to deal with and can't always come in and magically fix everything. It doesn't excuse mistakes they have made in the past, but this is not only a revamp of FFXIV, it is a revamp and a wake up call to SE, they are changing how everything works in their interior to make sure we are happy.
Back during FFXI, I felt like the developers lived high up on Mr.Olympus where we felt truly blessed and graced by their presence if they ever actually came out and said anything. Pretty funny thinking about how it was back then. Comparatively to FFXI team or other MMO's in general, SE does do a pretty excellent job in communication despite having to have everything they say translated into various languages. Sure it isn't top notch, and don't respond right away, but the team is still going through building blocks to make sure we the customers are always satisfied.
Of course like I said...all companies have faults and SE still has much to improve on the game, communication, customer service, and so on. I know we all feel entitlement to the alpha, I can't call people out on it because I feel the same way. I paid 9.99 a month for a borderline broken game (Just saying that to be funny, not an actual solid reason for entitlement.) and just a throw of an invite would be nice for everything I have put up with in the past. Logically it would be better for people who are more likely to be active to participate. Alas, SE has their reasons and I can't argue against statements I cannot win against, because in actuality, I get their logic and it does make sense. Not to mention, people should stop believing that SE is intentionally promoting the game in it's state right now outside their current customers. A lot of signs show that these are not exactly promotional clips.
So I don't "White Knight" or bash SE's actions. I simply acknowledge they are a company that needs a lot of help and do the small part I can to make sure they finally get on the right track, rather my contribution is insignificant or not.
