I sir or madam have played FF's before and I like the fact no two FF's have the same animations for spells or they would all be the same game with different charas in it >.>

animations, spell effects themselfs have changed a lot over the years which is good because a poison spell in one game and a poison spell in another should have somewhat different effects without destroying the effect completely

I hate to break it to you, but all black magic spellcasting animations have been the same for all spells in previous FF titles. The spell effect itself is what changes, but the hand motions the characters go through doesn't differ between spells.
The new animations is miles ahead from what we had before, and light-years ahead from FFXI, and I like it like that.

Excluding different casting animations for each school of magic, we already had that stuff. We also had casting animations based on which weapon you had equipped, which XI never had.
Then I don't get what point you were trying to make, because FFXIV's animations are unique as far as FF games go.
I thought the spell animations reminded me of a refreshed xi spell. When a hume casts elemental magic they stand straight up and put their hands out, kind of like a half jack. I thought it looked ok.
Also remember they're only tier one spells. Hopefully as you get -a and -ga spells they'll change. I do think that although the lnc abilities shown were nice, it's a bit much for a beginning entry of ws/ability. I would like to see animations for earlier aquired things be very basic, but get more flashy and intricate as you learn new things.
Imo, in 1.0, higher tiered spells were no more impressive than lower tiered ones. Only exceptions i can think of are flare and freeze. Let's be honest, burst was underwhelming and not much different than its counterparts. Stone and aero were almost the same as well.
