What exactly was wrong with the ability effects in 1.0 anyway? I am not aware there was a huge criticism about this that led to them becoming more flashy in 2.0.I think if the old style wasn't broken they would not be fixing it..i like the way its changing and it might not mean super-ohgod-duper-mega-flashly skills will get bigger and more flashly as lvls go up but maybe add the feel of power to the attack rather then...poof damage out

I think SE wanted to add more life to the effects, which in turn made them more flashy, you can't remake something perfect the first time and I think it will get better in time

Just gonna drop some of these not-so-flashy abilities that we find in 1.0.You might wanna put yours on too.
Wish I had shades for this one.

In 2.0 the abilities occur with far more frequency. I've said this about a 10 times and it clearly has an effect on the visual representation of battle. Simple math. Watch, if they cut down the global cooldown from 3 seconds to 1.5 or so like some people are asking for the cluster****ery will be about twice as bad. Do you really not think this warrants some attention, or should abilities keep that amount of flash despite occurring far more often?

What? LoL there was lots of hate towards the "blandness" of the 1.0 effects. At one point, they actually doubled the size of effects because people complained they were so small. As it is, the only effect in that video i saw which was close to being "full screen" was the Aqueous Discharge from the slugs which did take up half the screen. The lancer nor conjurer abilities came close to that statement.
Perhaps removing the blatant hyperbole from your criticisms would help others take them more seriously?Only the people who try to negate and ignore criticism.
So they already doubled it. Problem solved, why are they doing it again. What? LoL there was lots of hate towards the "blandness" of the 1.0 effects. And actually I agree about the mage effects. They are relatively insignificant compared to all the other crap going on, and will be lost in the sea of other giant flash effects. And yes the orange circle is from slimes as far as I can tell, but the visual representation of battle still needs some serious polishing and editing.

The grass is always greener...
Isnt that always the case? People demand huge changes, get an idea in their mind of what they want to see, when it isnt want they expected they dont want it anymore.
So many people were convinced that anything was better than what we had, so much so they were willing to just condemn it completely and move on. Now all of a sudden they are giving us too much of a good thing, so typical.
I think the changes are fantastic, I love the look of the game and yes its over the top but its a fantasy game and all of that is completely subjective.
I think we need to stop nit-picking stuff, thats what this is, nit-picking and splitting hairs. Gamers in general are rather hard to please so I usually just read these posts and think, "ok, whatever" but its a bit out of control lately.
The forums are full of more negative stuff than they were back when the game didnt work right, such ungrateful attitudes on here.
