Please stop showing boring videos

I agree overhype is bad but SE doesn't even illustrate the best parts of their features or communicate their strengths.

Because the game is incomplete.

Rather than rushing to show things that aren't fully built and cause a collapse like 1.0 experienced, I feel this approach of gradually revealing gameplay as it evolves works so much better.

It's infinitely worse to show a gameplay video of a raid using an incomplete game build than it is to show small videos of the evolution of the gameplay.

Yes, the game is incomplete, but do you seriously believe that. I assure you that when release time comes they will still not be communicative enough in their videos and marketing. There is nothing wrong with explaining what you have, as you have it. Everyone knows this is Alpha gameplay since there is that giant watermark.

They do not put these videos up as trailers, they make these videos mainly for the current followers. Saying this won't bring new players is a vague statement, Many are encouraged by these videos.
Most people who aren't previous FFXIV'ers and just heard about the game doesn't even know lodestone exist.
We can't expect nice videos from a game that is under stress testing. What we see in these videos could change. A target cursor may be under consideration to be applied into the game. Some animations may not be active in alpha stage.

If someone don't know what alpha test means, they are in no position to judge a game based on these videos. They may do it anyways. Then what will happen? I guess the other part responding will tell this person otherwise. A meaningless statement in my opinion.

To me, these videos are informative and it pleases me that SE shares this. I wouldn't mind them being longer too, but it's entirely up to SE to decide and we should respect that.

Anyway, if SE is showing the same types of videos by a month before release then you should be worried.. otherwise right now its just to give those not in alpha something to look at while they wait.

Also notce in most cases (Aion, Guild Wars 2, Warhammer Online, etc) I cannot even get alpha videos, but still you get the idea. ARR is looking really good, and they even are saying that everything from graphics to animations to the combat system will improve frm here to the beta then to release. Honestly I think Square PR team is doing a really great job.
