Cool story bro.You know just because of the picture itself is kinda sad that people would use these kids/unattractive people, and put them as memes as if you were making fun of them just not directly and the whole internet can see it. Cyber bullying can lead to deaths. Not saying it's you or anything, I just hate memes like that kinda annoys me :/.
Why should it be hidden tho? It's got alpha blatantly displayed in the video, most would probably say it looks good & they can't wait to see beta...Again.. which is why i suggest it wasnt shown to the public hence the unlisted videos. We people that has been following the development will be viewing it just fine. But it will take alittle bit of work for general public if they want to see videos that is still underdevelopment process.
You think general public is gonna give a damn whether or not its still in alpha? if it's boring, it's boring for them.
And why make it so people have to work to watch them? That's a good way to get people interested....
Besides anything else I think the dev team have better things to do.

they aren't even promoting the alpha videos. they are just showing some scenery, features to those that want to play alpha, but didnt get in. they will obviously show more when we get to beta.
so these alpha videos don't even matter. using alpha videos to promote a game would be stupid even if it was more fast paced. not many would be impressed with low lv gameplay anyways.
if you wanna promote the game to friends, you can do that when you get beta invite, or when game goes live.

Sometimes I wonder what this community notices.
On one hand, we have people chewing out on the latest video for 'hand-guiding' us far too much with user-friendly tools and notifications and UI. Map area identifications and quest markers apparently constitute to making playing a game far too easy, and we are being handheld far too much.
On the other, we have people apparently blind to a huge 'alpha' symbol constantly on the bottom left of the video, a title with the word 'alpha' in it, a significant amount of time with the words 'alpha version gameplay' and 'all content shown is under development and subject to change' at the very beginning of each video. We have four instances of telling us that it is not finished, practically blaring at us at every instance, and yet people can't understand it.
What makes you think that these people who cannot seem to identify a video as an unfinished product, an alpha video for displaying system changes and not final renders, to be able to grasp at a quest in game with no markers or guidance, where you have to interact with the game instead of watching someone else play the game for you?
This community is far too hypocritical at times.

o.O I think we got a winner! but my friend you can fuss and point out the flaws but if no one listens then why try to tell them? I like your point and i agree but like I said before as long as people have a view of something there is a group of people against it and thus the war of words will go on till both sides have their fill or no one is left standing...Sometimes I wonder what this community notices.

You speak from a neutral perspective, and I respect that. However, I believe in this situation (not between you and me, but the issue at hand in the topic), we have a hyperbolic case of selective-hearing/seeing. Except the subjects in questions seem to be both deaf and blind to the cymbals slamming next to their ears and epileptic colours dancing in front of their eyes respectively.o.O I think we got a winner! but my friend you can fuss and point out the flaws but if no one listens then why try to tell them? I'd say there's a difference between what can constitute to a matter that bears hold to having two sides for it to issues that simply have no logical, social or acceptable levels of importance to even be discussed or brought up. Comparison - this thread and the Sprint thread. I see the point from both sides regarding the Sprint ability, even if I favour one side, so I take a neutral perspective when I think about it. This thread however, serves to disrespect, enrage, downplay, ignore and ridicule the hard work, dedication and willpower the team has shown (exaggeration may be rampant). I really don't see how there can be two sides to an issue such as this, because one side will be showing absolutely zero empathy and understanding of how overwhelming a task the development team has done.
...I got way over-long winded on a petty subject, haven't I.
As I said, I respect your opinion, because you are polite and can understand that there are two sides to everything. I just can't find any logical justification to assume this issue has a side which can possible support it without greater injustice.
I like them. o.o

Your right its like a customer yelling at the baker about the cake being too runny while its still in the baking pan...I think people are over running the fact that its still a work in process and that the team wants us to help by showing us what they gotYou speak from a neutral perspective, and I respect that. I did not tell you what unlisted means in my reply. I simply asked you if you think the video would remain to be unavailable to the public by doing this measure? My answer is: I doubt it would. That is not what unlisted means, Unlisted in youtube means the video can only be viewed if you have the url. So yes public won't be able to view unless someone link them to url, however nothing will change for lodestone viewer because the youtube video will shows just as it is.
This way, as a current player can still view the videos, judge, and whine the hell out of it and nothing will be of loss because lets be honest here, we are all here because we will be playing ARR.
However, IMHO these videos serves as terrible video if for the game, because it's boring just the same as any other MMO for people that never touched v1.0 of FFXIV.
By the way, I think the video was great. Now you will probably say how boring I am as a person, but i guess i just take it for what it is. Alpha screens have never been something to shout out "Hurray" for if you compare it to the final result.
To those who choose to judge an alpha as a final product, grow some wisdom and patience.
If I feel there is something wrong when the Beta arrives i'll be sure to put my feedback for everyone to see, but as of now I wait, because I sure as hell can't tell someone how I see the game by just looking at a video.
