I don't know why some delusional people are saying to try it. Unlike some people stuck on their mother's teet, some of us have played other games with this exact ability and are well versed in how it works. On top of that, some of us can read. This ability gives you 20 seconds of sprinting @ max tp. There is no need for anyone to "experience" it in order to give feedback about its implementation.

Additional negatives I see: in town, you will constantly see people sprinting across your screen so fast you'll swear you were playing Sonic The Hedgehog, complete with blue supersaiyan glow. I would think the anti-bunnyhoppers would have something to say about that. For me, it's not that it's "immersionless" (which it is) that is so bad, but it's knowing that this feature is just so redundant. I mean, in an MMO walking around is a huge time waster. You'll have no choice but to use Sprint to dart back and forth everywhere. If you stand still in a city and look around and see people Sprinting all over the place it's going to look like the Jetsons. I think it would just be a lot more saner and less complicated if you could simply equip earned speed boosts to some kind of slot system, so everyone can just move at a consistent speed without all the chaos.

Battle flee, which is really the only thing left on the table after a passive speed boost, should just be made into a feature of the battle system as it's always been there in nearly every FF.

Without trying it out, you are unable to consider how it fits into the overall design of the game. This is actually a trend that's been confirmed even in 1.x when people already knew what the game was like entirely, yet still had knee jerk reactions to some additions/changes only to realize it works quite well after playing it. You were consistently one of such people. I still remember us going back and forth when the changes to passive MP regen were made in 1.x.

Now it's for ARR, a game we known very little about. Even if in alpha you know very little. If not in alpha, you know basically nothing in the grand scheme of things.

In short, trying it out matters. Don't kid yourself.

Also, do you have some sort of obsession with the word "teet"?

Dude get it through your head. I have tried this ability for hours. I have LIVED this ability.

And no, your analysis of trends is false. People have adapted to changes but that doesn't mean nothing was lost along the way. The game has lost a lot in game mechanics as it has been dumbed down to the WoW level. Yes, the WoW level is still a functional way to clear battles, but that doesn't mean it's more fun or better. Just because it ended up not breaking the game doesn't mean the concerns have lost any relevance.

I remember the MP regen debate well, and guess what, it's still senseless that moving 1 inch resets your MP regen. It's stupid that you have to stand there like a stone. That's not particularly fun. Most other games I can think of have MP regen stats and a set MP regen rate that you can use while MOVING. You argued that it wouldn't be that big of a deal, and it didn't break the game but it is still annoying, stupid, and unfun. A lot like you actually.

I think you're on the wrong side of the debate. Your first instinct is to accept whatever SE throws at you, yes, much like a baby suckling at dear mother. I've always been anti-establishment so my first instinct is to be critical. I have no problem accepting forward-thinking design decisions, but guess what, this is ripped from a decidedly uninspired MMORPG. Maybe you just don't see the big picture. Have you played many other games?

Another post riddled with personal attacks and ad hominems.

Anyway, its good that you mentioned your opinion on how you think the game has been dumbed down by YoshiP. Gives more insight to your perspective on a whole. I've been around long enough to known you, but a lot of new people on the forums who I'm sure will appreciate it.

Also, no. My first instinct is not to accept what I'm given. It's also not to be critical and anti-establishment oriented as you just admitted to. My first instinct is to make sure I learn everything about this new thing, consider every scenario and how it will work with the rest of the game, and then get the opinions of the few people whose opinions I particularly respect.
