In counter to your remarkably astute and well-reasoned response, I offer this riposte: I say otherwise. Do I really need to rebut your frivolities point by point? Because I can.
Also, is there a reason you ignored the questions I asked you?

OP updated by the way.
@Noctis that's good that you're willing to give something a thorough shot. I do that too, believe it or not. However you just give too much credit because you don't see the history of this particular ability, and the MP regen issue before that. Sometimes something special can be created by totally ripping something off and placing it into something else, but most of the time it just drags baggage from its former incarnation. So if you really want to see the whole picture you're going to have to play games other than FFXIV to see industry trends.
Also, the game has been dumbed down, by definition. It's not my opinion. Equip-able actions were reduced, for just one example. Final Fantasy was always more complex than WoW. Have you ever played WoW? WoW is a great game but it is a very simple game. Simplicity has its merits, but it's a fact that the original systems of FFXIV were more complex.

Honestly, why am I even wasting my time in here. SEs paying attention to actual feedback regarding the game, including Sprint, in the Alpha forums. Not here. For good reason too. Even if not all, most people are gonna change their opinions after getting their hands on it so why bother when you've got actual testers?
Something tells me people have nothing bad to say about Sprint in there.

Well they're paying attention to my feedback too. They pay attention to everyone's feedback.
My next thread I'm going to have a no-argument policy. No matter how belligerent, stupid, or crazy you are, no matter how many times you show poor perspective or low reading comprehension, we are going to stay on topic! After all after going back and forth the best you can say it try it out and the hell with it, even though the points raised in the OP won't magically go away no matter how much I like a feature. And guess what, I do like the general idea. Not everything revolves around how much you like something.

Why is this an issue? Seriously, I don't get it. For long distance, on-foot travel you'll use mounts. For short distance on-foot travel you'll use sprint/run. In dungeons, due to the TP part of the ability it probably won't be viable to use outside of a few situations, at least I hope we're not running all the way through dungeons ignoring everything again.
We don't know how many abilities we'll end up having so the "it's taking up a valuable action bar slot" argument is kind of silly. Could it have been mapped to some sort of button command? Possibly but there are other risks there as well. If it's on the double-tap direction function then you might accidentally activate it during battle or some other inopportune time. Moving it to its own button would work fine for keyboards but not for gamepads, they're already strapped for buttons as it is. Personally I already use L3 (in 1.0) for auto-run, and R3 for perspective change.
Comparing it to another game is all well and good but you still don't know 100%, completely definitively how it will work and be used by the players in this game. You can guess and assume but you cannot 100% know until you have played the game yourself. You can make assumptions about how it might affect things but you cannot say you know without a doubt exactly how it will.

How do you know I haven't played the game myself? Have you played the game? Points in the OP are based on the system as it is now.Why is this an issue? Seriously, I don't get it. Ah okay, so out of everything I said that's the only thing you can safely try responding to, got it. Well as someone else pointed out before, if you have played Alpha and are discussing this on the normal forums then you're breaking the NDA as those who haven't played the Alpha only have limited knowledge of the system. If you haven't played Alpha then you have limited knowledge of the system.

If you are an alpha tester, then post it in the alpha test forums. This really isn't the place for alpha feedback. Continue pointless debate for another 100 posts so we the lurkers can continue enjoying the futility.
Also for your accounts sake I hope those are screencaps from the video or something, otherwise posting pictures of your own from alpha on imgur is a bantastic offense.

Some people like Raven_Reborn will probably say that Yoshi-P lets us post our own pictures of alpha everywhere else on the net. All on the alpha forums of course, so us lurkers don't know true or false.
But as to Neptune's pictures, they were from the video. So no breaches there.

So if i were on a mage class, sprinting during battle and having my TP reduced to 0 will have no negative effect on me as apposed to losing WS resorce on a DoW class. But this is totally cool?
Ok then, new suggestion. Sprint should use All MP as well as All TP. Or no MP, no TP, cooldown increased to 2 min.
