    Help maintain a great community

Alpha/Beta forums were rampant with trolls and unconstructed feedback/insults.

PLEASE Moderate these forums so we can keep a healthy active community, we all want FFxiv to succeed, and you don't want everybody to leave these forums and have all this effort put to waste.

I will make an effort to report constant trolls, as long as the community will work together on this and SE will do something about it. Please no repeat of Alpha/Beta

    Night Eorzeans!

I agree. It's very important for the developers to have a strong modding presence on the forums. Considering all the polls, the letters from the producer and the fact they launched this forum means they value the feedback from the community. But we really need active moderators. Not only to get rid of all the trolls, but to find the truly constructive posts and ideas that will surface on this forum. Developers and community, don't let those gems of innovations that will be posted be buried in an avalanche of posts about trivial subjects.

I wantted to make a thread about it as well, glade some one already did.

I agree with this. I am going to support this.

Another problem is that many people posts threads right away without bothering to look if someone already made a thread about thier concern. It overflow the community and would prove harmful to them and everyone else.

since there is no sticky l'll use my signature to post the must important and serious suggestions that are in my opinion.
Thanks for making this thread Madrox. If I get to vote I did vote you to be a mod.

Thank you, but I wouldn't have to time to keep up with the responsibility. :3

This forum is critical for communications between us and SE. We cannot let it die down because of constant trolling and dupe threads. Glad to see others are going to be active in trying to keep these forums from becoming a mess!

My only concern is if people start accusing anyone with a complaint of being a troll.

We all know FFXIV has a lot of problems, and this forum was specifically created to help gather more feedback from the players, but it won't do any good if people are only allowed to say positive things about the game.

Giving SE a bunch of complements telling them that they're doing great and to keep up the good work might make the dev team feel all warm and fuzzy inside, but it isn't going solve any of the issues currently plaguing the game.

I understand that people might not always enjoy arguing with someone who's angry, but at the same time I just don't want to see posts with legitimate complaints getting deleted simply because the person voicing the complaint was angry and passionate about the problem they're discussing.

true but there are still things that we can start with:

    a. by merging thread of the same complains.

    b. take those "forums" suggestion out the way it is better off in the website bug section. This feedback forum is better off to be for game suggestions alone as they are more important.

that wouldn't disrespect anyone opinion and would clean the forums quite a lot.

Please guys remember that the less threads and more support and posts on already made suggestion would raise the chance for being read and ultimately get the problem solved. If you see a suggestion you like support it by posting on it thread rather than make a whole thread for the same issue and pretty much ruin any chances to have your voice heard.

Let's make this forum clean. We win if we win over the developers by attracting them here to read. We most beat those mean and evil aliens at the French, German and Japanese forums!!

TBH that is up to the people, and SE should do something about the system if it is abused.

No, this has nothing to do with "Only Positive responses" you are misunderstanding me..
"This game sucks WOW is better"- Non-constructed feedback
"I don't like this game, it sucks because ......" Constructed Feed-back
These are mainly for the thread starters..

If someone says that the game sucks,. who cares? SE is working on fixing it. They aren't pleasing alot of people and thats not trolling. Assuming you didn't see the Alpha/Beta boards, it was chaotic and nothing came of it for the most part.

I agree, we must work to keep the constructive feedback afloat on the top page, allowing non-constructive garbage to sink to the abyss of the second page. I believe I had a blog post about constructive feedback not too long ago.

And one of the related issues with forums is that nonsense or endless discussions topic will be on top all of the time because people keep posting.
Constructive useful posts disappear to page 5 or 10 of a forum because it's not controversial enough to respond to or because people agree with the topic and find no need to post.
A lot of the topics on the front page will be along the lines of "class *** sucks because", "this game sucks, *** is better", or discussions about stuff that will never ever going to happen(please make the game just like ***).

One thing that I'm afraid of is that because people tend to post a lot in topics they can just post their thoughts without thinking or listening to each other or topics where they feel enraged by. This means those threads will be on the front page. And my biggest fear is that the community person will only look at the first 5 pages because that must be the most important, the democracy has decided.

So I hope the developers will be able to get several moderators, not to police this place, but to keep it tidy and be able to suggest 'gems of wisdom' to the developers. I don't know how realistic this is, because 1. hiring people would cost money and 2. there's a language barrier. Of course they could decide to appoint some mods from within the community but that is not a decision to be taken lightly(plus companies are afraid to do that in general)

yep as I said everyone should support a good idea by posting on the thread and ignore the meangless one. This is one way we can help the community with.

For me I listed the must interesting suggestions in my signature. Maybe that would give them a slightly higher chance to be read. Too bad I cannot direct link them since at the time being the forums doesn't support links in signatures.

Must important ideas from the Feedback section:
    [Game suggestion] Inventory system
    [Game Suggestion] Linkshell Options
    [Suggestion] Discipline of the Hand.
