Hahaha no.
Hahaha no.
No, not when you have to input your password every damned time you want to log in AND then go grab your security token.
With POL I'd just hit X twice, input token password, X, wait a second for it to log in, X, X, done. With 1.0's at least, it's type in two passwords every time, wait for the shitty IE frame to load, HOPE it doesn't give you an error about the application not being able to load the website (?), click play, then hope the error doesn't show up after that (because then you have to relaunch the log-in thingy). THEN the game launches. Screw that. Logging in was one thing I preferred in POL.

I dunno what's sadder, the fact that I remember that stupid promo video or that I somewhat miss POL.
But yeah, no, don't bring it back for ARR> For the love of God, leave it dead & buried with FFXI/FMO (still bummed we never got FMO)
Yes please, i want a POL Mail-box and communicating with my XI friends via POL while playing XIV would be neat.
Also buying expansions and addons from POL was hassle free.
no thanks, POL's account management doesn't even work anymore, I'd say it's painfully obvious that SE abandoned it in favor of it's current account management system. IMO, It would probably be more cost effective to design the game to be compatible with pre-existing IM, with any login client having links to the forums, patch notes etc.
Yeah it was just a slow innefficent program (laggy/bad button placements and order to get in).. BUT otherwise I thought it was a great idea.
When they are developing the smart phone app maybe they will make a little app / addon to the launcher.. (I think an in game steam like interface could be cool (may slow peoples games down)) but I really liked the part where I didnt have to log all the way in to interact with the game world.
Addings some AH (MW) features, chatting, mail, news in game, news/RSS feed to dev and forums..

Had to take my long break from talking on the forums to discuss this baby~
In all honesty, I miss playonline. It told me when my friends were logged on so I could farm for abyssea weapons, it also told me when the people I didn't like, but I friended anyway just to make sure I knew not to log on at that time.
But My wish for a new playonline would be to make it so that I could do all those post card/friendlist management/ect ect.
But as long as we can go straight to the game through a shortcut and avoid the all the multiple windows we'd have to go through and go straight to the character select.
I want playonline back simply to not have to use a crappy p2p update system / deal with a crappy company to make payments to play XIV.
POL still doesn't run well with 64 bit operating systems. It was a hassle to maintain and update for a program that essentially does what a linux patcher and a website does. The only literal advantage to pol is that it searches and finds only the patches you need rather than all the patches. But even the ffxiv does a pretty decent job of phasing out torrent that's no longer needed. Not to mention, in ffxiv, if you didn't want to wait the... what, 3~4 hours?, at least to install ffxiv on another computer from your current one, you can just drag it over with all the patch files it'll do the rest. There still isn't a good way to install ffxi on multiple computers without redownloading every update. It's dead for a reason. Let's stop digging up graves.
