I hope you are joking...
Ew, Hell to the no.
This has to be a joke right?

I was always a Solid Wax kind of guy
Though I admit there were a few things I liked from it, like the friends list, messages, animated menus and the ability to store my damn password so I don't need to input two passwords every damn time I want to play. Everything else can burn in hell, especially the R0 deal and the payment system. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK R0ing in XI and having to go back to PoL every time.
This isn't that bad idea.
POL was kind of an access portal to a number of services on the PS2. Yeah people think about in terms of just accessing FFXI, but it also had email, chat rooms and most importantly (for SE) were news tidbits and advertisements for other SE products.
With that in mind, updating POL would be a great idea. The main problem, however, is that POL has always been linked to MMOs, in that the only way you could have POL is if you bought FFXI or (if I'm not entirely mistaken) Front Mission Online. So for POL to work now, it should be a free app. Then from inside POL it should be possible to buy access to FFXI and FFXIV.
The next step would be to then include a portal for access to the Square Enix manga bookshelf, the music library, and perhaps even old game titles available for a particular system (assuming PC and PS3). Apps like Crunchy Roll and Netflix are on PS3, so why not make digitally distributed manga available on a console as well?
Overall it could be pretty darn cool.
