    Me: YES, EVERY SINGLE DAY I WALK BY HERE I HEAR ABOUT CRAFTING, MISS! AND IF I LEARNED CRAFTING, WHICH YOU BETTER THANK GRENTH I HAVEN'T YET, IT WILL BE SO I CAN CRAFT A NOOSE TO CHOKE YOU!

    [Can you tell I am disgruntled about this NPC? And what is worse, this NPC chases you around and waves her hands in your face!]

    Shall I begin enumerating the many irritations of Skyrim dialogue "immersion"?

    I want voice acting for the main scenarios, sure, but otherwise I am fine with a beautiful text bubble and very emotive character models.

    @_@ Forgive me.

    We were already limited to English only for 1.0 as far as voices <.< the subtitles changed depending on language your settings were in.

    Ideally it'd be nice to have more voiced things (Thancred *.*) but that would mean slower updates. Voice acting in 4 languages takes a long time (getting actors into the studios on their schedules etc), which means slower updates on stuffs.

    Voice over are nice, but very very few games have them done well. you get alot of repeated phrases and half the npcs in the world sound the same. (would not be cost effective to do it other wise)

    I would rather SE spend the money on solid playable content, instead of paying voice actors and taking the time to do it right where the VO is meaningful and not just muted by the players in the end. A solid game full of well designed content > a game full of Voice Acting. SWToR proved this.

    I think GW2 showed that voiced town npc's are more annoying than anything else. And SWTOR voiced storyline, while enjoyable just isn't compatible with a MMO update schedule that players expect. Despite the fact that SWTOR was sold on being an "Endless RPG" and for promoting story, the painful year+long wait for any new addition to it's main storyline shows that it just doesn't work. Especially for a subscription based MMO.

    I'd rather that XIV's approach to continuous story updates like they've done with version 1.xx and promise even more of for ARR than take months to a year for a voiced storyline update.

That kind of thing I wouldn't mind! But voice overs.. I think I can live without D:
    I agree. Simple sounds of acknowledgement, agreement, thanks and question are all thats needed from NPCs.

    Which is why I don't support fully voiced NPCs in XIV. I could even do without voices for the CS. It's a huge added cost for what amounts to fluff.

    SWTOR had quality VA, but to some extent it was just too much and I found myself skipping past all the CS just to get on with the quest. It was a wasted expence.

    GW2 has terrible VA. Much of the NPC dialouge isn't skippable (like in dungeons), it brings the overal quality down.

    So I hope SE doesn't feel like they need VA to compete. If they feel compelled to have it, I hope its only for the main story, and is well done. But I fear for future content updates.
