    That would be shooting themselves in the foot, considering there might still be plans to put FF14 on 360. Though if the PC base eventually recovers, that might be a different story.

    I'm not sure how much work it takes to do those DX 9/10/11 grafts that mult-platforms do. Definitely not worth it if they are planning to retire the engine from the winPC field.

    Something like OpenGL for instance would be the path if they eye the iphone/pad/mobile market which has been seeing massive growth and is touted to be the unofficial 4th-console.

    DX 9/10/11 has no bearing on 350 or Wii2 development, truthfully it should not matter in this day in age the client should be optimized for whatever system it is on. In this case it is on the PC only so the game needs to be working for PC without recourse or thought of potential development down the line on those systems. Now SE could save work as they did in the past being with FFXi they had variable patch sizes for each client. PC and PS2 were not always the same size, which indicated they attempted to develop clients for each system.

    Before "upgrading" to DX10/11, they should handle current issues first. Hell, if they can't handle simple things like alt-tab i shudder to thinking about which "optimizations" they are going to make.

    Yeah my bf and I both have very new high end PCs and in some areas and especially during cut scenes the frame-rate dips to totally unacceptable badness. Lowering the settings doesn't help either.

    This thread is not dead because it is a key issue that needs to be addressed. Current performance issues are preventing some potential new subscribers from playing. If this game wont run properly on peoples PC's then it will not make a difference what they fix in game past the current point.

    Got word back from Yoshida about the changes that they're planning to implement. Like I assumed, there aren't concrete details on what precisely is being done that I care share, but he said that along with the PS3 version development, they are performing optimization work to overall the core engine to make improvements.
