[Dev] Overtaxation of PC Hardware

Anyways, to stay on topic; it's pretty crazy how hardware intensive this game is. I don't know if I've seen anything really as intensive on a machine, maybe Crysis, but yea. I actually replaced my heat sink because I couldn't get this game below 70c, now I run a more reasonable 40c with a newer heat sink.

I'm going to feel bad for the PS3 if this is going to do the same shit to that machine ;=;

Folks posting complaints in this thread might not know it, but SE already did a "fix" for overtaxation of hardware once in beta -- they capped the framerate to 60fps! PLEASE consider that if you keep complaining, they will almost certainly reduce the cap to 30fps (as it was in the alpha test), rather than doing a proper job of client optimization. I don't know about y'alls, but one of the major appeals to me of XIV over XI is that it's not capped at a headache-inducing 29.7fps. It would make me a very sad taru to have to endure another 8 years of choppyness.

I doubt they would resort to another such shortcut instead of optimizing the game correctly. They're under the microscope right now.

Well its good to know that others having the same issue. I will play the Witcher 2 and Crysis 2 with my fan running normal but this game it goes on overdrive.

i was able to play crysis 2 w/ a shitty raedeon 6450 card slightly overclocked at 40+ fps lol yet this game was hardly functioning lol

I'd imagine it wont fry a PS3... its easier to test console hardware to avoid that kind of thing since you really only have to test the game on each PS3 revision....
Also, the graphic settings, Shadow quality, Anti-aliasing, Anisotropic filtering, draw distance, draw quality and frame buffer would be set and unchangeable at a place where the PS3 can run the game just fine...
So worst case scenario is that the game on PS3 will look much worse than the PC version, but wont be choppy, or fry any PS3's.... Of that you can be sure
