I was shocked that only 1/6 of the US applications were picked. I do think they need to put a time limit on players in alpha to give others a chance or just open more servers for testing. As it looks demand is high for players who were left out want in.

o.O didn't you read what I said? "I should update my app so my invite can go to another person who is better suit for alpha." Because I don't have time for it anymore why should I be a placeholder.
If you can't make use of it why not just let someone else use the account?

Creating a form to allow for updating the application, which is only going to be used once/a few times, is a waste of some web developer's time that could be better spent working on the new lodestone/website/whatever. This is completely aside the fact that this is (most likely) the final selection and that it is pointless to do anything to it now. If SE was going to use their application form/database/system again sometime in the future, I could see them working on it. But that's not very likely either.

People can't seem to look past the feet in front of them and realize there are logical and technical reasons why certain things are not done.

I absolutely agree that if someone's alpha account is inactive for a certain period of time, it should move on to someone else. that being said, I still don't feel like it's a big deal. we'll all get into ARR soon enough

Since i had a really shizzy pc, and since i didnt lie on that current pc specifications (wish i did lie, but we learn with our mistakes...) and the alpha testers are elected also taking into consideration their computer specs, shouldnt we be able to change the current PC specs of our Alpha application anytime? Because i doubt i'll enter the Alpha with the old PC Specs (Core 2 Duo 2.2ghz, 3gb RAM, Windows 7 64b, NVIDIA GeForce 8400m GS (128 dedicated +896 shared, but i did play current XIV version on that pc, but doubtful will even be taken into consideration for an alpha invite with those machine specs that i entered on the alpha application.), so i was thinking and asking if there is or will be any way to change our Alpha application updated, because since September 2012, i'm sure alot of ppl updated computer hardware in order to play ARR smoothy or ppl that had rly old PC's (such as me) bough new pc's or hardware to improove and 'maybe' play the alpha.
Also, i'm not raging or butthurt, because i'm having alot of fun playing another mmo at the moment with some friends, but whould rly like to see and test ARR on this machine but also on my old laptop to see if it'd run good. This post is mostly for those who changed their pc's hardware to maybe be able to update it on the alpha application so they can get a better chance at an invitation, because ppl that applyed like me, totally wont be in alpha and doubtfully in the beta beginnings because they dont meet the requirements hardware~wise...
    That's all for now.
Thanks for reading. Please (someone of the DEV team) reply if possible!
The thing is, if people DO lie, (and I'm sure a lot did...) Then that could mess up the results of the alpha test. Because they're not using the system that the devs asked for.

    ...

That's exactly what's going on...they view the login rates for alpha, then open up more slots for people to join in.

Seriously, people, if you don't read what the community posts, at least read what the community reps post.

I thought they were going to ask for one of those system specs print outs via .txt file that some beta testing apps ask for. I figured upon acceptance, they would request it.

That tells me that they don't care about SE having the correct information, they really care about getting an invite.
Tell me how the hell will they know when i update my computer specs unless i tell them so?
So they cant ask me for something they dont know....

What it tells you is irrelevant.

You're second guessing the motives of someone you don't know, which you're not in any position to do.

Regardless of his motives, though, it's useful for Square Enix to know exactly what specs the game will be tested on, so it makes a lot of sense for people to be able to update their specs if they update their PC.

    It's that simple.

The threads are for feedback (reports and suggestions to the game), I would welcome talking about your desires as well. Feedback is not wild speculation.
I learned something new just now lol- Apparently there is a Final Fantasy trading card game in Japan, and it includes cards of the spinoffs- Alhanalem and Meeth from FFCC: Ring of Fates put in an appearance, and I think there are cards from the FFF games as well (Shirma is probably one at least)

I don't know (and kind of doubt) if there are any FFXIV-related cards in it as of yet though.
