[DEV question] Why cant we change Alpha application answers?

Oh man... *drools* - and we can save the created character for use in the release . Did they say if the manqote will be in the benchmark? I thought they were unsure if it would make it into beta - perhaps rumor mill talking..

Hey random question but why haven't you created Yuke thread(race or puppetmaster)? Or if you have I never saw it XD. Continuing on that.. is Vivi a Yuke? (I'm a Yuke noob).

Because I don't usually fantasize much or engage in much wild speculation about future content, really that's all. Yukes are a race from the Crystal Chronicles spinoff series. Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I'm pretty sure Vivi is actually human, and they just did the darkened face thing to shroud the character in mystery.

Since when have we been able to change our answers on anything SE has ever asked us? Never. expecting it now is expecting too much.

The history doesn't mean current nor the future.

You shouldn't have signed up in the first place if you knew you were getting a new computer in the very near future.

Unless you were doing the app on a machine with absolutely no chance in hell of running the game (because it couldn't run 1.0 FFXIV either) then you really have nothing to worry about. They need people with all different kinds of hardware. telling them your new better hardware vs your old worse hardware isn't going to affect your chances. And as others have noted, PC specs are just one of the factors.

Seriously guys, just sit all your butts down and wait for the beta. It will be a lot more polished and functional then anyway. The alpha has next to no content and a level limit of 20. it's a TEST for a reason.

I knew I wanted to get a new PC way back before the Alpha app but I didn't and I only replaced the sound card because it was broken.

The alpha app was posted since early September which was 3 months ago. Not to mention some people have upgraded their computers, many other things may have changed. Myself... my work schedule, school schedule and my gaming style all changed, and I played GW2 after I submitted my app. (GW2 wasn't even an option of MMO on the app. But...but... isn't the Dev team playing it now?) I didn't know all those when I did my app. I had more free time when I filled out my app then now.

I can tell you I was better suit for alpha back then but not anymore. I probably not gonna qualify for alpha if I fill out the new app now. I should update my app so my invite can go to another person who is better suit for alpha.

People not getting an invite doesn't mean their apps are not qualifying for an invite, there are limited invites can be sent. Since no one knows what the qualifications are, updating the app doesn't mean better chance to get in, it could be the opposite.

Also, I'm sure the Dev team wants feedbacks from different types of player, people, and PC specs, not stuck with only one group of player.

Allowing people to update the app with more current information actually provide SE better information about the applicants who may be better suit to testing. It also provide a fair opportunity to everyone.

Just my opinion, I personally don't care about alpha since I don't even have the time for it.

Dude, code that your browser executes, and code that has to be executed by your OS are not the same. It's not "unimportant syntax." There is a world of difference between the two with vastly different challenges in terms of development and release/usage.

It really just depends on if, and how much, they are actually interested in your specs or not. In SE's case, all evidence points to it being quite a low priority, if one at all.

In any case, right now they shouldn't be interested in anyone's specs. They are just stress testing at the moment. If your rig can power on and sign into the game without crashing, you meet their requirements at this point.

I know the alpha tester selection process is a hot topic, and while I cannot disclose the selection process, I do want to pass on some additional details to help you better understand the situation. To ensure a broad scope of testing for the Alpha Test, we did accept users with specific types of machines, setups, connection types, ISPs, geographical locations and other configurations that we need to test that may, or may not, meet every requirement on the application. Alpha is an important first step for testing and we need to make sure we have a wide breadth of users testing it.

We appreciate your understanding, and we look forward to further expanding our selection in the future. In fact, there are a few Yoshida posts that we're working on today that go into further detail on this.

Seems like it did matter lol, we just dont know the specs, but mostly for an alpha, i'm pretty sure its only high-end pcs... Beta is for the older pc's tests to see how well the game runs on older hardware.

I've got a couple for friends that got in with pretty -eh- computers. But maybe that is perspective lol

I'm sure that they have some parameter of specs they are using but how tight is unknown. Wynn may be right that "running it" is good enough. We really dont know and that is the point of why they should allow updates, it will let SE be more accurate and it wont mean anything to us since we cant prove their requirements.
