definitely never been in endgame.honestly you guys are kinda silly.
in ffxi when ppl did parties it was common not to roll on loot during a party i saw maybe 4 ppl do this in 6 years. same with the short time end game. You acting like ffxi was WoW which is worst.
every time someone did roll on stuff the leader would comment how rude it was and the player never lotted again or was kicked. So yes you can control lotting in pick up groups just make it one of the many unwriten rules ffxi had. Just keep telling ppl its rude to do it. It worked in ffxi.
Can't they give us the choice? To give players choice is easier than spending pages on a forum trying to find a solution that will never please the majority. This is not FF11. This is not WoW. We don't know what the playerbase will be, so it's useless to make assumptions on how they will want to loot based on whatever part of the aforementioned games.
A choice between:
- All random (which is the current mode, since no items are bind on pickup)
- Need/Greed/Pass
- Master Loot
with a threshold of item rarity/quality for the two last options, would be the easiest way.
Also due to this game particularities on multi-classing I'd really like an option like :
- Need for my current class/Need for another class/Greed/Pass
On this topic I think it would be nice if there were options for the party leader to choose the looting system. I think the types of systems should be added so that the party or raid group can set the system that speaks to their group while still giving everyone the option to play the way they want.
1. The current system (best in normal parties)
2. A need/greed/pass system like in other MMOs. (I would also like to see the option that allows players to setup an auto roll setting on different types of items. Warhammer did something like this for their RvR system so players wernt bombarded with pop up windows for loot)
3. Bag holder - good for team farming, the loot goes to one person who the leader chooses. - FFXI had this and it was good for group farming sessions.
4. Rotation, items are assigned via a round robin system.
5. Auction - points are awarded to party members who help in fights and players can use those points to bid on loot, and if they win they spend the points on that loot. If all points are spent and there is no more bidding then the leader can choose to auto loot the rest of the items round robin style or the party can keep going to earn more points.
Are there any other systems I'm forgetting?
The more options the better, not that they have to use these ones, bur different parties have different needs![]()

yes really need a loot system you my vote
There is not a huge problem with the normal drops being distributed using the current system, however I agree for more exclusive gear and endgame activities there should be some further form of control in distribution/lotting.
Maybe some form of party loot pool could be implemented as in FFXI where all party members have visibility of exclusive dropped items and are able to lot or pass. Generally in endgame most people were honest enough that if for example a Torque dropped in Sea and it was allocated to a certain player who had won the bid to get the item, all others would pass for them to lot it. Yes, I have heard stories of people being sad enough to ninja-lot items, but I'm not sure that there is any way around this 100%.
The only time I or party members ever lotted for dropped items was when it was for a common quest item such as the Sub-job quest items, or if it was an NM drop. Which is how I ended up with an Assault Jerkin for my BLM -.-

I only ever lotted on gear if i needed it and everyone was aware and same went for them etc, in party if ever was in one it would just drop to whoever. I remember being in Dynamis once and somebody went AFK or didn't pass and we where telling them for about 5 mins or more and then we where kicked i lost the itemso something better that would be good lol.
You must not give items away very often, we do, every piece of anything (when were duo) ends up in his or my inventory for his or my crafter. Every time we have to stop, give, get message that he or i isnt close enough, run back, open menu again, give item. During this process we can't attack or run. Try doing this after every fight and then come back and tell me it's more convienient. In FF11 we never ever had the message that the other person was too far away, also we never got locked inside a menu.Ok, I'll try to explain this in as simple of terms as possible:
-In FFXI, if nobody rolled on an item, they were distributed randomly.
-In FFXIV, they distribute randomly first, then give you the opportunity to "roll" or "pass" on them (Take or Give). Except in FFXIV, it's even more convenient. Party members can give you the item directly.
-It takes just as much time to "Give" or "Take" an item as it did to "Roll" or "Pass" an item in FFXI (you had to open the menu)
And if you're in a pug and you don't trust people, all you have to do is set it to Round Robin or Master Loot...
You people are complaining about nothing.
And please, watch that derogatory tone, i'm not a child. We play the way we want to play, a more convienient system need to be implemented. I'm tired of stopping after each fight to go to a menu and give the stuff away while a popup would work much better (without a silly short range).
A "need/greed/pass" mode where you can right click on the "need" option and then select a team-member to "need for him". Adds one single click, keep the feeling of the current giving system yet allows to chose whether we want or not an item.
what about make 2 diferent looting systems? one for normal party and one for raids.... there is already switch onto targetin wich to me seems great for when doing stuff with alot people like Behest, and other when doing leve party with very short crew.So i think a switch for diferent kind of lotting systems would work great.
One that allow people to set wich items are unwanted or what they want/need from the treasure pool when killin a certain kind of monster for exp. so our pockets dont get filled with trash.... cause face it... we cant look everytime we kill bunch of monsters when killin fast for exp/sp, and our pockets often get full of things we dont even wish but others may...
And the other Mode of loting that be only available for raids or NM drops where ONLY the party leader decides who get each drop, i think if you have a party leader is cause everyone trusth on him, after all thats why he/she the leader.
