An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
My sincerest apologies Griss. T_T
I was mixing up FFXIV with another game I played recently (DCUO). From what I can tell there isn't a quartermaster option in FFXIV atm.
I feel pretty stupid now. And I apologize again for mixing it up.
I will say though, that with a Master loot and Round robin option, that would make the loot process in this game much better.
Hello everyone,
We went over to the development team's desk and asked them about the future of the looting system.
As of now, a discussion on adjustment of looting system is taking place.
However there are many other updates and adjustments that need to be made on FINAL FANTASY XIV, they still need more time to have further discussion on this matter.
We will continue to keep this matter in our mind and if there happens to be an update, we will let you know so please hang tight.
Also if you happen to have any ideas and feedback, they are more than welcome so please don't hesitate to send them.

It is good to hear the devs are at least aware something with it needs to be adjust, that is good news. Like to thank the community reps for their work the last few days getting info from the devs, it is good to know even without hard facts that the issues we see in game are being addressed or are planned to be addressed as time goes by. Keep doing what you all are doing getting info from them.
The more issues addressed by the devs the more the minds of the playerbase will be put at ease.
honestly you guys are kinda silly.
in ffxi when ppl did parties it was common not to roll on loot during a party i saw maybe 4 ppl do this in 6 years. same with the short time end game. You acting like ffxi was WoW which is worst.
every time someone did roll on stuff the leader would comment how rude it was and the player never lotted again or was kicked. So yes you can control lotting in pick up groups just make it one of the many unwriten rules ffxi had. Just keep telling ppl its rude to do it. It worked in ffxi.
Lotting is not generally for normal parties. It's for raids and/or rare quest items is when it comes into issue. Not something really essential right now as the need for it is as near non-existent as the game content, but if they do implement dungeons and the like, it willl be. Shouldn't be that hard to understand the need for it not sure why there's even a debate. There would be options to set it to round robin more than likely just like before for normal parties.
definitely never been in endgame.honestly you guys are kinda silly.

Basically what Radaghast said, lotting in level, behest, grind partys is not the issue. The issue is when say a 100million gil extremely rare item from a epic raid boss drops and it goes to someone it is not suppose to get it yet, lets say there where 9 people infront of him on the item since he was a new member to the ls, the item drops on average 3 times a month. He has 3 months to wait and he knows it. Is that item really his? The game gave it to him but he was not up for it. That member has to make a decision that it is the item he joined the ls to get, it is now on him does he keep it and bail on the ls he really is not attached to yet, or give it to a leader he just recently met.
The issue is he can quit the ls with it, steal a 100million gil from the ls, and the GMS will just say well it dropped to him it is fair game. I had this happen with Walk of Echos with one of my members on XI, it had a lotting thing similar to FFXIV's where the lot pool was community and it went strait to that person, even though it was a team effort.
Some system has to be in-place where the leaders of the event have full control over who gets it, the current system has no such controls.
Can't they give us the choice? To give players choice is easier than spending pages on a forum trying to find a solution that will never please the majority. This is not FF11. This is not WoW. We don't know what the playerbase will be, so it's useless to make assumptions on how they will want to loot based on whatever part of the aforementioned games.
A choice between:
- All random (which is the current mode, since no items are bind on pickup)
- Need/Greed/Pass
- Master Loot
with a threshold of item rarity/quality for the two last options, would be the easiest way.
Also due to this game particularities on multi-classing I'd really like an option like :
- Need for my current class/Need for another class/Greed/Pass
On this topic I think it would be nice if there were options for the party leader to choose the looting system. I think the types of systems should be added so that the party or raid group can set the system that speaks to their group while still giving everyone the option to play the way they want.
1. The current system (best in normal parties)
2. A need/greed/pass system like in other MMOs. (I would also like to see the option that allows players to setup an auto roll setting on different types of items. Warhammer did something like this for their RvR system so players wernt bombarded with pop up windows for loot)
3. Bag holder - good for team farming, the loot goes to one person who the leader chooses. - FFXI had this and it was good for group farming sessions.
4. Rotation, items are assigned via a round robin system.
5. Auction - points are awarded to party members who help in fights and players can use those points to bid on loot, and if they win they spend the points on that loot. If all points are spent and there is no more bidding then the leader can choose to auto loot the rest of the items round robin style or the party can keep going to earn more points.
Are there any other systems I'm forgetting?
The more options the better, not that they have to use these ones, bur different parties have different needs![]()
