What the fuck is going on in this thread? Can you children seriously cut this shit out? The intent of this was for people to vent and perhaps make light of not getting an invite, not to debate religion, politics, the holocaust, treaty rights, animal abuse, or whatever topic entirely unrelated to XIV that you people are on now or are going to somehow wander into next.

It's in part because of "discussions" like this that our community has a bad name. No, I'm not looking for you to debate that, just accept it as fact, quit bickering, and if you can't act civil then go do something else.

Your writing is exactly what I posted above: challenging opinion = trying to silence his voice. I'm NOT trying to do that. If someone "successfully" manages to challenge his opinion, then I welcome the debate, because debates are good, and people learn from each other.

But he has said in numerous posts, he only responds when he is attacked. And the fact that he responds to said "childish" attacks makes him just as responsible.

Some people believe that walking away from a childish attack makes you the better person. Some people believe that it's better to at least defend yourself against it.

Also some HAVE challenged his opinion, and he responded to those as well. Without attacking him no less.

The vast majority of my discourse is focused on talking about my opinion (or other people's opinion) and on re-shifting the debate back on that track. The posts in which I defend myself (thing that I am fully entitled to do, mind you) are a vast minority.

Absolutely. You'll notice that I almost never talk about me. My problem is and has always been that they left out a sizable part of the active customer base (how big? we don't know, but it certainly is sizable from what we can see), but they invited inactive users, despite what was clearly specified in the application form.

That has nothing to do with the fact that I've been invited or not. Irrationally, if I was invited, I would be less disappointed, but rationally, I can't approve of them leaving out their active customer base to make room for those that chose not to support this game. So yes, I would definitely speak against it, and with the same intensity (as my criticism is entirely rational, I leave my irrational disappointment out of it).

This is why I love kickstarter and support games on it all the time. I strongly believe that developers should first and foremost hold the feedback of those that support them in the highest possible consideration. On kickstarter, if you support a game, the developer will normally go above and beyond the call of duty to give you the tools to provide that feedback, and that's why I have a reasonable amount of confidence that games like Star Citizen will come out very nicely.

I'm not doubting you, but I have to take that with a grain of salt because what's done is done. Moreover this "sizeable" part that got left out....what are you basing that on? Surely you not taking anecdotal evidence from the forums to suggest that the users here, vocal as they are, represent the entire playerbase of 1.0? Alpha being limited as it was, was destined to see a great many players not enter it and on top of that what entitles active customers to dibs? If anything, it should be a general mix of player types and not an attempt to give already interested players a way to keep on playing. I just don't understand and being that I've been around since original launch I think I'm qualified to speak on being around already and what we ought to get for that.

SE had motives behind inviting inactives to alpha. I don't like it, but I can understand. Don't really know why everyone else ignores why they might have done that. I still believe a great deal of players who were in 1.0 got in too. I don't think it hurt other than the feelings of those who felt SE would cater to those of us who were already 100% in.

One of the mains reason i have pointed out time and time again is they want voices from people who don't play the game and also because a lot of FFXIV players are or was only FF 11 player before this game came out so most of them could not even give a creditable feedback on U.I and other things that was not in FF XI.

And that's also a double edged sword. I know many people that never looked back when it came to FFXIV, would play it in alpha and get the same impression due to being incomplete. During a normal first release of a game, it's not as bad, but some of these people already have that bad taste in their mouth, so the timing of showing them the game is more crucial.
