New Race! Ronso? Yes please.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this but here it goes. Since all our current races are basically Vana'diel races I decided to look more into Xi and thought why not Zilart. I'm not talking the Hume looking Zilart but mutated version. Look at Eald'narche's uncovered eye for example.



Looks very similar to creatures in Sea (Al'Taieu)



So I'm thinking if they do make a playable Lizard-race that I think was voted 2nd to Viera (could be wrong), they should be purple and white like above. Perhaps something like this (just think of the "white" as armor)



I'm not saying make a Freeza/Cooler-type race, but I'm just saying maybe like to see what they could come up with from a Zilartian purple/white design.

@ (Majoga): I think some character options could become available through game play - like this eye. It could be interesting to physically develop your character as you play the game. Like getting dropped in a vat of mako and getting special glowing teal eyes :P

I dont think it would be worth making a whole new race for though - its too similar to humans.

Never thought of Ronso, but you sir (thread-creator) have brought something to light I actually wouldn't mind seeing at all! Would eventually per expansions in the future be wonderful to see races like the Ronso somehow integrated into the story-line in an all, new way.

and i would like the ronsos as well but we already have a cat race like miquote unfortunatley so its very unlikely to implement these as a next race i think.

a lizard race like yoshi p stated would be very fresh to the game.

2 cents; I like the Viera, not because sexy or girly but because of the character "type" it represents. People always comment about it being a sexy race so it's negated by Mi'quote, but truthfully I don't think of Viera as a "sexy" race, the appeal for me is the lore. Everyone talks about the bunny ears but they aren't bunny ears, they are a representation of the connection and how in tune the Viera are with the Wood(not intended as a pun, get your mind out of the gutter). I will admit they resemble bunny ears but imo has no corolation with Hugh Hefner type bunnies as implied in several threads. They are a substantive race with a very good backstory and it could fit seamlessly into the Eorzean lore.

I like Ronso too as I said before but I think it resembles two of the other races and Viera have a better lore and character design.

Again, just my 2 cents. Trolls, my last post in this thread so don't bother.

As I said, there was a lot of thought and detail put into Viera as a race. How they would be integrated into FFXIV is another question altogether. I suspect that they would need to be from some remote forest region in a future expansion...

Let's hope whatever new race we get isn't just shoehorned into the game. Sadly, even the current FFXIV races don't have nearly the same depth of culture and lore as their FFXI counterparts do.

Hopefully ARR will address this.

That's great and all, but they won't be the same amazons from Ivalice. I mean, Rogadyn are not male only indentured servants, elezen don't stem from a monarchy of arrogance, Miquote don't come from a jungle island, and lalafell are prairie and dune folk.

The lore will be different for this new race.

I agree that whatever they do will have it's own new lore to fit into Hydaelyn. Heck for all we kno they could even add new head/tail-less styles to look like a Viera and just pass it off as some newly found Miqo'te Tribe (newly found to us, Eorzea might already kno of their whereabouts/location). I admit this would be the lazy way of going about this but I wouldn't mind if they did so they could still create a new race while still giving people Viera. And before people say Miqo'te aren't Viera just remember, they're not Mithra neither.
