New Race! Ronso? Yes please.

I have read a lot on the forums on if SE where to add a new race which race would it be? And in response to that i have heard suggestion of adding the Viera (cute bunny people that honestly in battle i don't feel is super intimidating) or the Man-Lizard things (forgot what those are called) but i haven't seen, unless i missed it, anyone consider the Ronso, that super bad @$$ race from final fantasy 10!

The Ronso are sick! I was playing FFX today and was like "holy crap i forgot how sweet these things are!" Huge fury-beefy-lion-tiger-animal things that could crush a Lalafel in one swift kick would be a force to be reckoned with. There is just something awesome and powerful about controlling a mean looking beast like that.

And the whole duel gender thing is already set. The race already comes complete with both male and female. And as far as customization goes. I know their blue, but what about different colors? Ever wanted to be a black, white, red, purple, or orange Ronso? That's not enough you say? Oh lets add stripes or spots. How about a longer horn? yes please! I feel like this would be SICK!

Oh the Possibilities are endless! Please let's hear your feedback from all! good or bad!

Being a XI (race) purest I thought I would never say this. . . You sir just made an epic suggestion. Maybe the male mithras will look like these guys. They do look bad ass!

Why not add both? Viera + Ronso on the same expansion? Still adding too many races could bring new problems, as WoW experienced and I'm sure Yoshi knows about, and it's the future distribution of NPC's, if somehow one race gets less npc's than other or have less importance on a story or similar, there will be whining and complaining for sure.

Also Yoshi said that every thing he wanted to add, should be tied to the world and lore, and I'm not saying that adding Ronso could not be done, same as with Viera or other races, but that it should be done really carefully.

Still I'm always up for more variety in the game. And also Ronso were not discussed before as I recall, so, good catch!

Draconic race maybe Gria? But I feel Kan-e-Senna and the others are already a Draconic race, or similar.

Another cool one would be Burmecian? There are plenty of races in FF

I love the idea of the gria race or some kind of equivalent demon-human race.
I also like the idea of burmecians as I'm a diehard dragoon fan, so anyone who has played FF9 knows.

Here's my problem with adding new races though. Because they're not available until later on, and because the race you choose is set in stone, I won't be able to change my race should another one come out. Yes I could just make another character, but I've never liked doing that. I'd rather put all my time in to one char than to split it between different chars.

This. I'm a one-character player. I have 2 mules in XI I never use because it never felt right.

That being said, I'd be interested to see what new races they could come out with. I'm sure they'd explain in the story why certain races never show up before they are added. Either that or they could add a few "possible" races as NPCs before any of them are chosen. That way they don't need to redesign all the gear for them until the player base has decided on what they want.

Anyone playing FFXI lately might have stumbled on the new Meeble Burrows content. The Meebles are a new form of mole beastmen that are - as far as I know - enslaved by the Moblins. I would not be surprised if they are a new enemy type in later updates or in the Adoulin expansion. This way we get accustomed to seeing them in the world before their presence becomes more widespread. The same goes for Merlwyb, the first female Roegadyn - interacting with her the past several months has made the idea of a She-Galka less weird.

My only problem with Burmecian (a race i do think is sweet!) is they look a lot like the Qiqrn
And Gria still look too humanoid for my taste.
