but i'm picturing the new version in 2.0 being like campaign battles. we jump to the one that is ready to fight(aka the npc monsters are strong enough to fight and are on way) they show up and it's waves of mobs, lots of them ...all have many types of classes and moves. mini bosses and kick ass mobs in the waves as they come. you win or lose and it ends. you got exp and signet points from it( we will probably get something else but in that jyst on top of our weapon seals and rewards) then you warped to the next battle ...we only had 3 in ffxiv1.XX but think about it there was so many of these hamlet in each zone that probably was supposed to slowly get added in some to the point where they would of had as many as ffxi had. a continuous flow of them.

but lol enough rambling. campaign battles were fun, but it was missing something after awhile. but if they make you feel like your always progressing from them i'd do them all the time. in ffxi if the exp was up to par with regular grinds in that game everyone would of done them in campaign battles. i'm sure this is what they truly intended with hamlets from the get go even b4 yoshi and tanaka was in control.

i dunno but some reason i think even though it will be just as hard to get seals % wise it might be easier for people to get theres when it becomes open world. but i personally think this is just the start of what our weapon will grow into as we level and the game gets patched and expansions.
Thanks for the link and the explanation. While I did play FFXI it was my first MMO and I didn't get as involved in the community aspect and my experience suffered from that. I don't think I even had a linkshell that I would call active so I didn't participate in all the groovy stuff like Campaign and Besieged.

This is good, then there is already a precedence for this concept. Something that would be nice to build on and make it more suitable for ARR. I think the only difference between this and what I was saying is Campaign is an instance and when its done you warp out and its as if the rest of the world does not even notice. I would like it to be more of a call to arms, real time, non-instanced event.

I've been playing PSO2 and in it they have this thing where you need to defend the ships, a notice pops up on your screen no matter where you are, saying they need troops to help defend. you can then leave and head for the defense quest. The notification that something is going on is about the only thing I would take from that example though. The rest I would equate to the GW2 ATE that pop up at random, you see a circle on your map and see people kicking the crap outta baddies.

It wouldnt be every outpost attacked at once either, maybe one per GC area? each week is a different GC's turn to defend? I dunno. I just wonder what kind of theory talks the Devs have and have had throughout this whole process of rebuilding. Sad as it sounds, I would love bonus DVD's in the new CE to have Dev meeting recordings. I love weird shit like that.
