It "sounds" good but I recall hearing that the FC's will be limited to like 120 people or something like that. This would only be viable, in my mind, if FC's were larger and you could build your FC headquarters on/around existing outposts. I dont know how things are going to be handled in ARR compared to 1.0 but my ideas were based around the F.A.T.E. system which was based around the Active Time Events in GW2; open content that anyone could be a part of as long as they were inside the instance radius. What if the hamlets where build really well and was made into mini city states that FCs ran and defended? now you got something...little cities that can be raided by mobs or other FCs that want the land for their GC! It would add a new twist to the game and make hamlet defense fun and lots a role playing ops opened up (for Role players)
I stick to the idea that this wont be frequent content so that control can be maintained and defense can be organized ahead of time. The GC's that gain the benefits will be the ones from that area, eg Black Shroud = Twin Adders. This will also help to keep some focus on the GC content instead of people abandoning it once they rank out and create a FC.

Typical Dynamic Event, loving it here in GW2... .
But i disagree on an Once a Month thinggie.

Ummmmm..... Make hamlet a once a month thing?. Have u done it b4?. It takes a fucking long time to get ur seals already and now ur talking once a month?. I've gotten all i want from hamlet so it doesnt affect me but i still think its a horrid idea.I have been mulling over the Hamlet defense stuff for a bit now, ever since Yoshi-P said something about them being like the F.A.T.E. (Full Active Time Event).
Here's the idea I had about Hamlet defense. If no one defends it then the hamlet falls and is either occupied or destroyed. If occupied, then we need to invade it to recapture. If destroyed then we need to evict them and rebuild. That could be mass content for the crafting classes, rebuild the town! give them more of a purpose than just equipment and personal houses. It would have to be a once a month thing or something like that, not an everyday occurrence.
I know it wouldnt be a simple as that but its a concept or idea that they could or maybe already have tossed around.
What would you guys think?
EDIT: Territory wars. Give GC bonuses for the people enlisted depending on how many hamlets they have or special items for sale using seals depending on how many they have. Also add in taking over beasment strongholds as an Invasion, sort of the proactive counterpart to he Hemlet Defense.
Caravans and hamlet for me were the two most boring things in the game. If anything, im interested in seeing how they'll try to make them enjoyable. hamlet was like a neccesary chore nd it was impossible to stomach more than 3 caravan runs. I'm happy that their changing them but im hoping its for the better.

Ok, maybe not once a month. Once a week? Every two weeks? Just not daily or hourly.Ummmmm..... Make hamlet a once a month thing?. Have u done it b4?. This was why I was throwing this idea out there, current hamlet was long and boring and the reward wasn't worth it. Change the purpose of it and you change the effort vs reward. Forget the seals, you are thinking in the past, too many people are thinking of the way things are and not considering how much things will be changing come ARR. Like the server lag and japan servers, they have said the structures have changed so the issues in the Ifrit battle will be a thing of the past even if you are on a cross continent server. But at this point its all talk and hearsay, trying to think outside the box of 1.0.

I think this is a great idea. I love ideas where your actions have a permanent effect on the landscape. Like, whether you participate or not leaves the town destroyed or intact, and it actually looks that way in game. I'm wondering how this would work with the number of outposts there are. Would there only be a couple outposts that this would apply to? If it applied to all of them, and it took a lot of people to actually defend them, this would probably not work.
Maybe it wouldn't need a lot of people though, maybe this is something that could be defended with a small party, or even solo, in which case, it could be more of a spontaneous thing. Like you're on your way somewhere for a quest, and you pass by a stronghold recently overtaken by beastmen, or whatever. And you wouldn't need to shout for hours to get a pt together, you could just say "hey, I'm gonna take a detour and retake the outpost!" and then go do it.
Regardless, another great thing about this is that its a different way to get exp. And it might be a fun way to lvl up a craft or a DoL. And anything that varies up the ways you can get experience is a plus in my book![]()

That's what I'm hoping for to. Ways the players can affect the actual game for others to notice.
The idea of recapturing the outposts after its been taken over as something that a solo or a few people can do. The defense and the rebuilding would be more intensive. So someone could change to their Paladin, walk in and be a holy force of vengeance, liberate the outpost, then change to their carpenter and start plugging away making 2X4's.

My real hopes for Hamlet Defence or the game in general are open world contents. make the world alive.
Hamlet wise if I read correctly this is kinda what they want to do already. If you zone into Golden Bazaar and see it under attack you can jump straight in and help with the defense. No instance No need for a party just pitch in and help. everyone around you is engaged in battle not magically warped off to some instance somewhere but proper mass scale content.
one thing xiv needs more off (without any of the leashing/claim crap)

I just hope they make hamlet seals drop through the entire people who participated, so people go insane getting them.

Were hamlet seals even being carried over? I cant remember.
