You check all directions either in a sphere or only the half of it with a certain radius. The larger the radius, the more accurate the result and the more processing power it uses.

    In many of First Look videos they have sent out have AO is turned on. You can see it near the feet of the characters. From what I can tell it is a very inaccurate you can see while running the AO renders with a slight offset from the legs and it just looks award. In other videos it is very slight but you can see it in the environment.

    I noticed this as well. Esp in that indoor scene where 2 chars where sitting at a table.

    I'm sure the effect will be far better in the final version, so feedback at this point is premature.
