    ARR: Ambient Occlusion?

    I've noticed in alpha videos and screenshots there doesn't seem to be ambient occlusion. But as far as I recall 1.0's alpha did have it from the get go.

    I was wondering if we can expect it to be implemented for release, or if it not featured in the client.

    Alpha build was forked from the main branch a few months ago, so the lighting we see is not done yet, nor is the water and character animations. I think such questions are better asked in beta when there is only the main, up-to-date branch.

    Well, but even if not implemented, I'm sure SE could answer whether there are plans or not to feature it.
    If I recall, and I could be wrong, WoW does not feature AC?

    WoW is such a graphical mess, I don't think you'd ever be able to tell if there was Ambient Occlusion in it.

    (I'm assuming that 'AC' was supposed to mean Ambient Occlusion)

    In the last live letter when he showed the config screen you can see that there is an option for Ambient Occlusion. It's in Japanese of course, but Depth of Field is also there.

    Memory leaks and AO being Offloaded to the CPU is what destroyed frames with the 1.0's AO.

    Actually, it was the lookup radius being too large, more than everything else.
